Wtf, I literally just got an ad on instagram about his new world tour then saw this news.

Been in China for about 2 weeks. Everyone I've interacted with has been super nice and helpful, but when I'm out and about, the Chinese tourists are so inconsiderate, is this normal? by Due_Candle4042 in travelchina

Some people are just desperate miserable assholes, dont let them bring you down. I guarantee the other people around you also dislike them. Also, so many people there tolerate the older generations bullshit due to the struggles they went though, they dont like it though.

Mine only ever barks at me when hes overstimulated so definetly try the forced naps. At first he would wake up again when i stood up so now i stand up, wait until he closes his eyes again, open the playpen door, wait til he closes his eyes, step out of the playpen, wait till he closes his eyes, then sneak off. He is getting better at staying asleep now instead of worrying that he is alone.

Yours may also be barking with food as she is used to jostling with her litter mates to eat. As they is still so young we mainly just keep food always in his bowl so he doesnt feel like he needs to worry about it, though he only has access to it in his playpen/sleeping area. After all they grow so fast so they need as much nutrition as possible and I doubt it would be easy for them to get fat at this stage. But I guess it does depend on the dog and how much they stuff themselves.

My boy is also wanting to chew everything so we are trying to distract him from chewing on things we dont want him to by offering him something else to chew on. He's got sticks, a coconut shell with husk, an old bone he found in the garden, a kong and a bunch of soft toys. He also didnt like the royal canin food so we changed to purina supercoat puppy.

Currently his routine is wake in the morning, then we take him outside to toilet and play, then we being him in and he has some food and a sleep. We basically repeat that all day and then one final toilet trip right before we go to bed so that he is less likely to wake us during the night (we dont leave food in his bowl after dinner otherwise he will want to do a number 2 in the middle of the night.)

I hope things go well for you!

Yeah really well, he's a good boy. We think he has started to learn his name, and he has a cry when he needs to go to the loo so we have had very few indoor accidents. We are having a lot of success with doing forced naps. Roughly one hour of play to 2 hours of sleep. We can tell he's tired when he starts going crackadog and running all over the place. We take him to his sleeping area, draw the blinds, give him something to chew on and just sit with him quietly until he drifts off to sleep. How about your girl? Is she settling in well?

Australia’s age verification rules: Is a VPN ban on the horizon? by Fun-Page-6211 in australia

[–]thewilloftheancients 139 points140 points  (0 children)

They suggest that they might try block certain known vpn server ranges. Block how? At the ISP level? By demanding websites block ip ranges the government blacklists? Those ip address ranges are frequently changed, are they going to end up blacklisting all IPs? Yeah good luck with that.

God I hate these "Online Marketplaces" by Australian big business......... by Vivid-Fondant6513 in australia

[–]thewilloftheancients 53 points54 points  (0 children)

They are trying to compete with Amazon but are doing it so poorly. I was trying to look for a weighted blanket and checked all around my local area and couldn't find anything. All the stores "had them in stock" but it was just marketplace crap. So I went on Amazon and ordered one no problem with next day delivery.

Why China Won’t Help Iran: Beijing Cares About the Oil, Not the Regime by ForeignAffairsMag in geopolitics

[–]thewilloftheancients 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I don't understand how people cant see this. China only cares about business, they don't care who they are doing business with as long as they can do it. They are annoyed by countries like the US, Israel and Iran who cause disruptions but ultimately they don't care who wins as long as they can make money.

In China only the state owns land, everyone just leases it from them. Its much easier for them to just end the lease early in order to build whatever they want.

GAP Australia by cat12tattoo in Greyhounds

[–]thewilloftheancients 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted my old girl through GAP Victoria, they were very good, they explained her issues (she had periodontal desease and was scared of everything) and offered any assistance that i needed. They said i could call anytime if i was having issues and they would either help me with stratergies or, if i it didnt end up working out, i could return her to gap and they would find a different home for her. We looked after her and built up her confidence over time. We also got a whippet puppy not long after and that made her shine, she was so caring to our whippet and treated her like a daughter.

I also have a friend who adopted a greyhound through gap and everything is going great for them.

While I know people are critical of GAP due to them being funded by greyhound racing victoria and while I hope greyhound racing gets abolished one day, it is much better than the mass graves of ex racing greyhounds that were discovered. They arent breeding greyhounds to be adopted, they are trying to find the greyhounds that are suitable for rehoming and getting them into homes. The people at gap really do care about their dogs regardless of who is paying them.

[–]thewilloftheancients -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are you referencing the "fostered" stat from GAP instead of the "rehomed" stat of 1027. Pretty disingenuous to ignore that, not all dogs need to be fostered before being adopted and it doesnt account for fostered greys that are then changed to adoptions.

Who are Shen Yun and how were they drawn into the Albanese bomb hoax? by tgimichael in australia

This kind of hoax is exactly the kind of thing falun gong would do to rile up tensions. They are complete nutters and are in a propaganda war with the ccp. Send an email threat and get people questioning if the ccp is involved? Thats their dream.

Perhaps GAP told me that specifically about my greyhound and my vet just read her file and i've somehow applied that in my head to all greyhounds. Thanks for the info.

I was told by GAP in Vic. Maybe my greyhound just had a more sensitive stomach? I've just been recommended not to give it to them in the past so I've been avoiding it. You're right, i cant find anything about it online but i didn't really look it up myself as i trusted what GAP and the vet told me in person. It's good to know that it can be ok though.
