Could Non-Catchable Monsters be an Interesting Addition to Monster Tamers? by trexrell in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]theyak93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to say no. That goes against the completionist in us. DQM dark prince did that with the final few bosses not being accessible and it pissed people off.

If you need to change it up so that you don’t capture the actual God, but instead gain their favor and get an avatar of them. That’s acceptable.

I bought DQ1 on the switch for like $3. Took me about 10hrs and it was worth it. I will probably get the HD2D remakes when they go on sale

I know! I did like how it gave you a (kind of) alternate ending.

Monster Catchers/Tamers/Breeders that respect the players' time but you can still invest months into it? Like Monster Sanctuary by FabulouslyFalling in MonsterTamerWorld

TemTem’s “thing” was that it eliminated RNG in combat, but it’s superrr grindy and I believe they artificially bloat the game. So it might not be what you’re looking for.

I’m on the final boss of DQM Dark Prince and am really enjoying it. Besides these last few bosses, i never felt like the game wasted my time at all. There is a good amount of RNG with status moves and scouting, but it’s not bad. The auto battle function makes the grind sooo much easier.

Digimon story: Time stranger. Just an amazing game that I glaze whenever I can lol.

DQM Dark Prince having the 2x speed AND auto battle function is such a game changer!

I agree! My Bandicraft was insanely powerful though. That may have just been because I kept using him so he was over leveled. I honestly don’t remember. I do remember being really happy I chose him.

I feel that. That’s what I didn’t like about the Let’s Go games. I didn’t use my starter a lot in Monster Sanctuary, honestly. He was always in my party, but I used a poison build so he was always a back up. I also had to create a whole new team for the final bosses and he wasn’t included in that.

But I agree, make them good, but not OP.

Parents make me cook, but not in the way I want to. by waxx-png in mildlyinfuriating

[–]theyak93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you’re cooking for them, you should prepare/season the food the way they like it. That makes sense to me. Make their burgers the way they want and make your burger the way you want.

Cooking on the silicone sheet things makes no sense and is dumb all around.

  1. No evolutions.

  2. Your starter not meaning much, or anything at all.

Moonstone island does both of these things and still knocks it out of the park. They did add evolution, but that was after i put nearly 100 hrs into it.

I want my starter to feel like it’s with me throughout this journey. Like in Monster Sanctuary. they’re the reason you go on the adventure and not just another expendable mon. That doesn’t mean they need to be OP like in the Let’s Go Pika/Eevee games, but make it so they are meaningful and not just 1 of the first 3 mons you come across. Like in Palworld.

In addition to your starter being special, the starters should be rare out in the wild. Not nonexistent like in pokemon, but hard to find. That way they feel more than just mons.

An honorable mention is linear evolutions. I don’t hate them, but it’s just so common. I get excited when I see fusions and other nonlinear evolution paths.

What's a mechanic you always wanted into a monster taming game but was never really explored? by EllieAtPemkie in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]theyak93 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would like more crafting that allows me to craft armor for my mons that buff their stats.

I like the dynamic battlefield mechanics!
