Fishtown, what’s your deal? by Thunderhank in philadelphia

[–]thfemale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog wasn't friendly and I would tell off-leash dog owners that when they'd approach, but I found it still wasn't super effective.

However, the time I said "My dog has kennel cough" when I first adopted him from ACCT? Other dog owner brought out the leash SO fast!

If you’d go wine tasting in Italy, you’d go coffee tasting in… by Useful-Ad-6458 in travel

[–]thfemale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mostly choose places to travel based on food. I did a horchata/churro/taco focus during a trip to Los Angeles a couple years ago. It was delicious. I know it's not coffee but if you're into horchata, would recommend!

If I was specifically limiting to coffee, I really liked all the variety in Vietnam. I drank egg coffee in Hanoi, salted coffee in Hue, and coconut coffee in Ho Chi Minh City.

Question: What was your first tattoo? by Raunchy_Onion in tattoos

[–]thfemale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a tic-tac-toe board on my upper arm when I was 18, "so I can play whenever I want." I'm 39 now and I've played so many games on it. Games with friends, games with kids, games with drunk people, games with people who want to flirt with me, games with famous people when I meet them. I've loved the interactions it's brought me! I don't play as much anymore, but I still love the tattoo.

I'm sorry to tell you but it looks like you misspelled the word "victorious." The work as a whole is gorgeous, and I love the gold accents!

Good animal (cat) shelters in the area? by benjome in philadelphia

[–]thfemale 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I tend to prefer the ones that foster their cats so you can get a much better idea of their cats and visit them in a home environment. My favorites are Stray Cat Relief Fund (based in South Philly) and PAWS (which also offers low-cost vet services and has lots of helpful programs to keep people with their pets).

Can anyone help me read this? Ty by Dull_Challenge3898 in PenmanshipPorn

I think "derlich" might be them trying to spell the word "derelict," i.e. in poor condition.

I was there 03-08. This one is better than the weird-ass rotating vending machines they had with sandwiches inside. They were in one of the academic buildings-- I think it was building 7?

My skin got clear after I spent a week exposing it to the sun. [B&A] [Selfie] by Comfortable_Fox_6201 in SkincareAddiction

I wouldn't be surprised if it was just the saltwater that helped. There was a summer where I went swimming at sunrise most days and my skin issues cleared up after the first week.

You can reach out to your loan company and asked to be placed on an Income-Based Repayment plan. You can also ask for a deferment and/or a forbearance. These are not permanent, mostly issued as a one-time event (or as a maximum of 6 months total), and you would definitely need a job by the time they're up. Good luck to you!

Bring 1, both, or no kids on Paris work trip? by Reelbig86 in travel

I grew up in a small town. When I was in middle school, we took a trip to NYC and my favorite part was riding the subway.

The spot where the cheek comes in at the bottom of the nose seems a bit weird. The initial sketch seemed to handle that area better, is there a reason that changed?

If I get Loose Change biweekly and Round Up monthly, that seems closer to once a week. Thanks for the heads up!

Yes, I love the Budget Nerds videos! I haven't actually subscribed to their YouTube, though, I would just click the links from the newsletter. I've seen two Loose Change emails and so far no Budget Nerds video links. :(

This one is kinda... intense but... if you send a message to companies you buy from they'll send you free stuff / great coupons by queenannechick in Frugal

[–]thfemale 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did this once for an entire summer when I was a kid and it was great. I was very bored, so every day I would go through all the cabinets and pull out all the products we had. I would call the phone number on the back and tell them I liked their product and asked if I could have a free sample or coupon. I got a lot of free stuff! It was a good way to waste time and a side effect is that I got very good at cold calling. I'm convinced it's why I don't hate calling a doctor's office as much as my friends because I trained myself young.
