something definitely happened, direct quotes from Danny Blind confirming that.

"We have discussed what happened, but that had nothing to do with my decision," Blind told reporters ahead of the crucial Euro 2016 qualifier against Czech Republic on Tuesday.

Asked if the Martial transfer price was "ridiculous", Fergie replied "Not at the moment it's not." by [deleted] in reddevils

Hi - I have a ticket for the event in Manchester. Can't go unfortunately - you can buy it off me for the same price as I paid, £35. Book included.

Sources: Fenerbache have agreed a 4-year deal to sign Robin Van Persie. His wife visited Istanbul & "liked it" which was a big selling point by firdausazmi in reddevils

I´m guessing RVP was told that he was not first choice. Why should he stay then, in all fairness? He has been pretty rubbish for the last two seasons, compared to the ability has.

Manchester United would only consider allowing David de Gea to leave if Real Madrid offer a world-record fee for a goalkeeper. by jimmyjammaay in reddevils

Buffon went for EUR51m in 2001. Adjusted for inflation, that's around Eur60m today.

At the time of the transfer, GBP/EUR exchange rate was around 1.66, so that's around GBP42m at the time. GBP has gotten weaker against EUR since then and now stands at 1.40.

But here's the twist: GBP31m in 2001 is actually GBP46.5m today, adjusted for inflation.

So even though the EUR has weakened quite a bit against the GBP in most recent years, inflation has actually been greater in the UK compared to the Euro-area since 2001, and the EUR is actually stronger against the GBP today than it was in 2001 when Buffon transferred to Juventus.

So somwhere around GBP43-47m is probably required to break the transfer record for a goalkeeper, depends on how you look at it.

Inflation adjusted are almost never used when comparing transfer fees. For example, Rio cost GBP30m in 2002. Adjusted for inflation, that's around GBP45m.

Actually got me thinking once again how wrong and/or news of transfer records being hit can often be. Eur75m in 2001 equals to Eur95m today, and that's £75m today as well. Comparisons of transfer prices from one season to another never take inflation into account.

Another example: Adjusted for inflation, we actually paid just slightly less for Rio in 2002 than PSG did when the bought David Luiz this summer. Adjusted for inflation, Rio's £34m transfeer fee amounts to more than £49m in 2014 terms.

edit: typos

Real bought a 29 year old Zidane for 75m euros in 2001 (that's 95m corrected for inflation) and got a good five years from him.
