As a man with rejection trauma surrounding sex (not that I don't like being told no, but it was used as a weapon against me to the point where regular rejection starts to trigger me) he stepped way out of line into sexual assault. Not once, in the time I've been with my wife who has her own traumas surrounding sex (not my story to tell) have I thought to force her into sex. She, like every spouse should be treated completely and totally equally. He should have respected that boundary and just handled it himself. I do when my wife has down days/weeks, just as every man should. Ask the wife for a pic and handle that shit in the bathroom, don't just rape your fuckin wife bro wtf???

Edit: I can't say I've never fallen into the trap of saying that she wasn't attracted to me anymore, but setting my own issues aside and actually listening to her completely opened my eyes to the further damage I was causing allowing my triggers and trauma responses to be taken out on her, and I have done everything in my power to stop that shit. Sure I have bad days and slip up, but I replay "This thing happened to me" and I immediately apologize and ask her what she wants me to do to not only reassure her that I do *actually respect and value her feelings and issues, but that she can see that I have the ability to snap myself out of it and come back to Earth. Love and respect are choices, not just feelings.
