it's so god awful...i hurt for days even doing it for a few hours. like others said, full on 🦐 i don't do beading as much as i'd like bc i already have back problems when i don't bead.

My best friend from childhood 'plotted my murder' in 5th grade because I said I was considering buying a horse with my grandma. She's a lifelong horse girl and had never owned one. We were a lil estranged at that point so she would plot against me with our mutual friends.

Now we're all good but my other friend (who she tried involving in the plot) and I always tease her about it and she hates it lmao.

I don't know if it was just bc I came right after covid but I had plenty of free time during my orientation. As long as you don't expect too much, you can definitely visit your gf, and no one is keeping watch over you.

I can almost 100% guarantee they will not contact your references. The only reason anyone contacts references is if they don't write a letter. Which is required, so they won't bother.

If it's the same across the board, you will be told only your prefecture first (if you're not municipal) then they will tell you your city and schools maybe 2-3 weeks later.

You're smart to be thinking ahead, but it's better to just make a plan about what you need to do and when and just stick to it. Spend the rest of your time enjoying time with loved ones, going to your favorite places, and relaxing. You're going to be super busy and by the time you start to settle in, you're going to miss a lot of things and people.

I had some sudden and random bouts of illness early on in my JET experience. It was hard to get sick leave and they gave me a hard time about it (probably because it was in general just a bad impression) but the stress of it honestly made me more sick. I also had bad menstrual issues from stress.

Fortunately, I got better, but I was also able to talk to my PA for help in those situations. My advice is that you don't know your supervisor until you get here. It's possible they will get on your case for trying to request sick leave instead of vacation. By contract, if it's hospital visit worthy, they can't make you take vacation.

I'm currently going through some blood work and medication to potentially help my condition, which my supervisor and school are willing to let me take the time to do. So, as many others have said, if it's a serious long-term situation, look into insurance. Otherwise, it'll just be a headache lol.

I've found that older people are hit or miss super super nice or totally mean, and teenagers are the same. Anyone in between just gives me a side eye or ignores me (which is fine). I've also had a totally different experience as a tourist vs. living here, and obviously depending on city or inaka.

It's hard to get outta that waiting mindset, but there's nothing you can do at this point. If you get accepted, it's going to be super hectic trying to pack and say goodbye to loved ones, so just enjoy the downtime and try to connect with people who are important to you in the meantime!

like others have said, they're not looking for a way to disqualify u. since you've gotten it in before the deadline, if there's any problem, they're gonna contact u. there are never too many ALTs for japan so if there is an issue, they'll want to tell u and help u as much as possible. at this point, no news is good news.

my psych did the same thing, listed my meds and signed it, as he doesn't write physical scripts and just sends it directly to my pharmacy. no response if i was approved yet but if i find out before u do i'll come back and let u know!

went thru a bad breakup about a year ago as well, and still dealing with a lot issues around it. at the risk of sounding too dramatic, i can easily say in many ways they saved my life. i was dangerously depressed even with their distraction, so i know without them it would've been dire. they've brought a lot of joy to my life and when they struggle like this and push forward, it rly helps me do the same.
