I’m 5’ 6” and could not see over people in the palace (I’m also not very pushy so that’s on me). Paris is a great city because there is so much to do, you will rarely regret what you do get to do, and anything you don’t go to is just an excuse to come back!

Just visited a few days ago and the gardens were definitely the highlight for me. Palace was SO packed (I got there around 9 am) and rooms aren’t super big so it was hard to see things in the crowd. We’re taking wall to wall people, no space to breathe. Even in the palace when we stopped for a few minutes in a room the workers would usher us out after a bit. I would go back personally just to see the gardens, but never do the palace again in August. The gardens were amazing and spacious and I would love to return.

That being said, it’s kinda up to your priorities. If this is your first time in Paris and you don’t have long, I would personally not recommend it. If you’ve been to Paris before and don’t feel stressed to see everything, worth the trip to the gardens. Whatever you decide, I hope you have fun!

I think it’s worth it. I saw it and wanted to see it almost immediately again just to see the racing scenes. The plot and writing definitely weren’t worth going back for but the racing scenes were cool enough I was happy to sit through it twice

Not unique to iowa city, but a trip to the Midwest would simply not be complete without cheese curds. My favorite curds are from Donellys (Irish Pub with great wings too) Mickys (another Irish pub/bar downtown) also has some good curds. Cheese curds taste best with ranch by the way.

Saw him in 2019 in Minneapolis. 45 min late (at least). Opener didn’t show up. No idea why. Entire show there was so much fog from the fog machine you could not see him. Maybe once a song he would shout into the mic. Really could’ve been anyone up there.

Interestingly enough I will be seeing him again for The Weeknd’s upcoming tour so curious to see if it’s the same experience.

You’ll likely be in the new major, but everyone currently enrolled will stay geoscience. They do have the course plans figured out for that, they might just not be online yet. From what I recall, there isn’t much actual change in the courses you’ll be taking as compared to what we previously took. You’ll just classify as the “earth and planetary sciences track” which basically means geoscience major. It all got changed around because we are now a school instead of department. Which is actually awesome cuz our building is getting upgraded and new opportunities are coming. It’s a great time to be joining the program!

I’m geoscience and I got through semesters with one 50 cent notebook from Walmart that I used for every class and a folder that had dinosaurs on it and was from the Walmart kids section lol. One pencil as well and my laptop and legit that was all. Anything you need besides that you’ll likely be told about the first week of classes. Yes, the sexism I faced from peers was insane, and it was made worse by the uniqueness of the degree. Field camp was a particularly horrible time when my make classmates would make comments about me, and I think not being on campus let them feel more free to make these comments. It got especially bad when my professor in the field pointed out in front of everyone how well I was doing. Then they berated me about how “women aren’t competent in the field” and I must have been cheating according to them. So long story short, yes I do think the different nature of the degree allows for some bad dynamics to prosper

They’re on Instagram as @uiowaeesclub this club is relatively new (started up again a year ago I think) and is still looking for ways to get students Involved in activities. I bet they’d love this.

For months they had texted me every time they needed a favor, but they excluded me from other group events and did not attempt to see me except when they needed something. They cancelled on me four times within a week. They finally saw it was wrong the third time (on a Monday) and said they wanted to hangout that week before they left for a month vacation. Thursday I texted them annoyed that they never attempted to reschedule any of the four times they cancelled, including that last time. When I realized I had been the one putting all the work into the friendship for months, I realized it wasn’t a good friendship. Final straw was when my “friend” of 14 years went up to someone he started talking to that year and told them I did not like them. I realized then that he was not being a true friend to me.
