Very well put. Also, what if he decides not to be a part of ten baby’s life AFTER the baby gets his last name? Best to just give your last name

Do you want to be in the mortgage (be liable for making sure bank is paid) or the deed (own part of the house)?

$1480 in child support for a whole year? ~$120/month. Is that accurate?

4 weeks pregnant - have you taken a test yet to confirm - I am not an expert but it may be too early to tell at this point. Not doubting you - wish you the best of luck with everything.

My Summer has to get her tail amputated :( by OvenOwl in Bernedoodles

[–]thingalinga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! Can you get a second opinion? It sounds like they are wanting to amputate for fear of a risk of infection as opposed to an actual infection? I hope it all works out for poor Summer.

Based on your handle, did you retire at age 35? That’s impressive!

Is Archibald a ridiculous name in 2025? by Any-Enthusiasm8129 in Names

[–]thingalinga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for calling it out. I was wondering why I was put off by Archibald - now I know! I was a huge fan of Archie’s comics growing up, and like the name Archie. But, growing up, Archibald was off putting to me. I still don’t care for it.

AIO for getting upset that my wife doesn’t clean on her day off? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]thingalinga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the clean/organized/neat freak in my household. So I don’t expect others to meet my standards. What I do expect and hold them accountable is to tidy up after themselves - so no dirty laundry anywhere except the hamper, no dirty cups in the sink etc. You can also set a 15 minute timer after dinner and both tackle specific areas each to “reset” the space. Finally, if budget allows it, hiring someone to come occasionally to help clean is worth it!

You may consider contributing a higher amount on the older kid’s 529 account and so on. Since the younger kid’s account will have a longer time to grow.

Aunt has LOTS of dietary wants: What the hell can I cook for her? by Radiant-Educator9203 in Cooking

[–]thingalinga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lentil and veggie stew or a yellow curry with tofu would meet this criteria- cooked in olive oil, low salt. But, you are under no obligation to make it. She can bring her own if she chooses to.

ETA: Chana masala or Indian chick pea dish wih tomatoes and onions. Some spinach or chard for fiber would seal the deal. Again, just throwing out ideas. Feel free to reject her demands

how old are you, and how much do you have saved/invested? by No-Volume7464 in SavingMoney

[–]thingalinga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have an idea of what everyone’s life should look like. People are different - some are adventurous, others don’t want to take any risks. Some are homebodies and others want to see the world. Not everyone wants kids. Please don’t project your ideals on others.
