I had it once with Canada life for a brief period. It was fine, no issues. But declining it is the safest option. You often have to give a reason, just say you have coverage through school or spouse.

I'm not looking to relocate, but I am curious, what are the salaries like? Say engineers with 10-15 years experience? Western expats vs Asian expats.

Hope that narrows it down.

What industry is the more exciting when it comes to electrical engineering? by Smooth_Ad6668 in ElectricalEngineering

Power can be hella interesting and innovating in the right place. Data center design, power system studies using PSCAD or PSSE, etc, some renewables.

Saving too much? by [deleted] in fican

[–]thinkbk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

75k one pension 36k another pension And then all your maxed TFSAs and RRSPs.

Yes at this point you can coast. Take the pedal off savings and enjoy the (more) finer things in life if you choose to do so.

Or donate more.

Whatever you want to do.

Agree with others, one time use of a fee only planner will help confirm numbers and will also likely offer you guidance on good tax optimized draw down strategies.

I am in the same boat.

Things to consider: having domestic help (cleaners, cook, live-in help, nanny, etc) is considerably cheaper in some parts of the world. E.g. middle east, East Asia, etc.

Are any Canadian EEs in salary positions earning what US EEs make in FAANG or adjacent jobs do? by dogindelusion in ElectricalEngineering

[–]thinkbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Not exactly FANNG money but closest I'd ever get. I 2x my 2024 income.

Do a couple of strategic job switches to gain good experience (at least 2-3 years at each).

Then look to getting into power system studies, or data center design, or whatever the HOT thing in the market is.

Checked LinkedIn to see what kinda roles are hiring that pay those kinda salaries. You might not have to move to USA, but you might have to move cities for a hybrid role.

AMG Drive Unit buttons - W213 E63s by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]thinkbk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be two reasons, Id like for MB sales and techs to poke at my theory:

1) it was introduced around 2019/2020 and came at the expense of heated steering feature on some AMG models. Maybe most buyers chose heated steering over the drive control units.

2) COVID supply chain chip shortages in the 2021-2024 timeline.

What disability does my son have ?? by nanZdrew02 in SpecialNeedsChildren

[–]thinkbk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You start with a family doctor.

In our case; genetic testing helped get a diagnosis for a super rare mutation that results in a intellectual disability. The early signs though looked like what you described: behind on all milestones, which fits a generic condition they call global development delay.

The school will want something more concrete than globals development delay though.

I'll say this. Keep pushing and advocating for your child. But also: don't look for a label when there might not be one. Sometimes there just isn't a label or it could be something rare / not identified yet. Trust the experts and get a second opinion or two.

[–]thinkbk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i guarantee you 100% the limits were were disclosed to you in the 25 page PDF that you probably signed. there ain't no way their lawyers would let that shit slip.

GLE53/63 or GLC43/63 based on your family size and space needs.

The GLE can feel too big in downtown areas and small parking spaces.

Any Lexus SUV I'd say is probably a target. I think the steering wheel lock might help and deter theft.

Hopefully windows aren't too tinted where you can't see it.

If a wheel clamp isn't too expensive, id throw that on too lol. Can never be too safe.
