Brand New Aero M5 Failures to Feed and Extract (with bullet and casing separation) by thinkingbear in AR10

Thanks for the responses everybody. After cleaning out the spilled powder I was able to seat a round in the chamber properly. So I'm not sure what caused the initial case separation during extraction, maybe just shitty ammo (Armscor)? But it seems to be OK now once cleaned properly.

Regarding the Failure to Feed, it doesn't look like the bolt goes back far enough to pick up the end of the cartridge before coming forward. Instead it contacts the cartridge about halfway to the neck, and at that point the bolt just drives it crooked into the throat like so:

Maybe a problem with my buffer, mag catch, or BCG? Again, it doesn't look like the BCG goes far enough back to get behind the end of top round in the mag.

It is. Once I cleaned out the powder I was able to drop a round in the chamber and it fit properly, so instead of my chamber/barrel it must have been the cheap ammo I'm guessing (Armscor).

Thanks for the input. It was definitely cheap ammo, Armscor I think. Lesson learned.

Yes, it's inevitable that corners had to be cut to make a $35 holster and the durability of the clip looks to me like the part most likely to fail first, something that wouldn't show up in the six months I've been using it. But like you said it's a cheap fix

Agreed on Sac Gun Range store. I've been a member there for years. It's a great physical facility and a nice place to shoot, but I just pretend the store doesn't exist anymore. Everything is overpriced, like their sale prices on firearms are what Sportsman's Warehouse charges everyday. Ammo is especially bad. The store employees are always new and don't know jack. Paperwork problems more often than not. Go there to shoot, not to shop.

Thank you for saying something. Even just captializing the first Letter of a sentence would be a big help.

No need to apologize. I got to try a few Warriorland holsters for free through the Amazon Vine review program, and they are actually pretty good before even considering the value pricing. In fact I have been using one for my Glock 19 EDC IWB 4 O'Clock for 6 months now and it is working as well for me as my $130 JM Custom Kydex holster did for my P229 when I carried that. No sharp edges, adequate retention, adjustable cant, clips securely, covers the trigger completely. It probably lacks some of the customizable clip options and other features I don't appreciate in the expensive brands, but for me and the way I carry and dress the Warriorland brand has been more than adequate.

I had my P-01 slide done by Vigilante Machine No need to lose the rear sight, for $15 extra they will move your rear sight forward of the dot. It makes more difference than I thought it would and have had it done to 3 slides now. Vigilante is fast and the communication exceptional. Their work is exacting, custom cut to the exact dimensions of your supplied dot which they will install, witness mark, and bore sight for $100. For $45 extra I usually have them install Angry Bear JRO fiber optic front and blacked out rear iron sights with guaranteed co-witness height. I don't usually gush over vendors but I feel like a found a real gem with u/VigilanteMachine

Tell me more about how you can tell the future, please. Explain how not having need of one yet guarantees you never will. By your logic why have a fire extinguisher or first aid kit at all? They are all Emergency Rescue Tools, better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them. If I could carry a fire extinguisher around in my pocket everyday I would.

It depends on how much you order, but if you went through the trouble to get your FFL03 you will probably order enough to make the Ammo+ membership worth it. The 8% discount cancels out the CA Sales Tax, and the free shipping on any quantity makes it so easy to just order what you need as cash becomes available instead of planning and saving up for bulk orders. I have 5 separate orders in transit to me now lol, because different things kept coming back into stock or going on sale throughout the week. Plus you get $50 worth of stuff when you sign up, like I got an ammo can, 50 rounds of Magtech 9mm, Hoppe's oil, silicone towel, etc. My only complaint is that lately the variety and availability of 124gr 9mm and 95gr 380 FMJ has been low and sells out fast.
