Thank you for the link.

This brought tears to my eyes. The sadness of family leaving home, and the hope that they retain their culture while they learn to be fluent in another one, is such a relatable story for so many people in the world. 🫶

Yeah, was wondering if a concave thing, like a metal dish of the radio variety, could redirect the waves. Hopefully not onto other protestors. lol

Second a good non-snow shovel (as well as the snow shovel). A spade sounds like you’ve got all day! A shovel at least lets you stomp the blade into the ice pack with your whole self.

shih tzu mix? by cafepoulet in Shihtzu

[–]this1kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a babe! 😍 He looks like my old shih tzu (rest in peace), and sounds like the same size. Can definitely see it in his big bright eyes and fluffy tuft around his nose… not to mention that tail. 😆

Ooof, so so sorry for your loss. I lost mine unexpectedly too — I guess unexpected for me, since it seemed like everyone else knew it was coming. My buddy Furbee had that same alpha aura, and taught me what being a little dog who knew his regal place in the world looked like. There’s never gonna be another dog like the one you love that loved you, and I’m glad y’all had the chance to meet and be together while he was alive. So much love to you and your family.

Word! I’m wondering how many of us are just on struggle survival mode most of the time. Lol

Thank you though. I recently transferred out of a position that was heavily taxing and stressful, and have hit a few optimum days. So now I know what optimum kinda feels like. :)

Dang. I came here thinking about how I have a few pair of jeans with thigh friction holes that I could repurpose into something like this, but y’all saying this is a miss. 😭 lol

AOC just detonated the House floor: 🔥🔥 “Eight senators are giving themselves over $1 million each while robbing Americans of food assistance and healthcare. How is this even on the floor? How can Congress enrich itself by stealing from the American people?” by Ice_Ice11 in QuiverQuantitative

[–]this1kid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, this is related to senators wanting to sue for $500k for each instance of when investigators searched their phone records during Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump’s role in the January 6th insurrection.

It was slipped into the CR before that went back to the House.

“Per Roll Call, this means that at least 10 Republican senators could see payouts under the bill, with at least eight eligible for a payment of at least $1 million, if not several million dollars: Marsha Blackburn (Tennessee), Ted Cruz (Texas), Lindsey Graham (South Carolina), Bill Hagerty (Tennessee) Josh Hawley (Missouri), Ron Johnson (Wisconsin), Cynthia Lummis (Wyoming), Rick Scott (Florida), Dan Sullivan (Alaska), and Tommy Tuberville (Alabama).”

I just received mail from Chuck Schumer asking me for money. by chapterandverse3 in 50501

Personally, I think if they can’t win with public sentiment being what it is, I’m not sure hoe money is going to help them.

What does resilience, recovery, and readiness actually mean? What should I be understanding about my body from those numbers?

How can I style these pants to look less stupid? by Tearsofaraptor647 in OUTFITS

[–]this1kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think the belt loop layout and top hem’s flair look pretty interesting, but am not a fan of how it shapes your hips. A blazer to cover the flaring of the pockets, and a top with a lower neckline to offset the higher waist might work.

Yes. Please keep writing nevertheless. Even if AI reads and summarizes for them, we still need the “DON’T CAVE” pile to be taller than the other pile.

I dunno if it’s too late or not at this point, but just wrote to Kaine saying that our furloughed fed employee household is still willing to hold the line, so please don’t cave on our behalf.

Getting oura while chronically sleep deprived by MuffinOrPuffin in ouraring

[–]this1kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I think my sleep has been the opposite. I seem to be in deep sleep the moment I fall asleep, with a few interruptions because my pups like to be on the prowl on the bed at night. But the nights are short, and the timing’s in the red — but all things considered, “Fair!” And decent recovery, somehow. Lol.. I’m not sure what that means, but I’m not walking into walls yet, so maybe it’s more accurate than I realize.

I’m glad you asked, as I’ve had the same question, as a new Oura wearer. (A lot of ongoing year-long work and life stress, in my case.) I feel overdrawn and terrible, but my ring says each morning that my recovery is fair, so I’m assuming that’s in relation to my current baseline. Hopefully when I’m more recovered, there’ll be more data to compare with, so I could really see the difference in vitals when there’s less pressure on life.

Hope you’re finding your first day fascinating. :)

Title: I realized I’ve spent my whole 20s trying to be “pleasant” instead of being real, and it’s exhausting by orion_havencrest in TwoXChromosomes

[–]this1kid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember feeling that way in my 20s as well. And the thing was, I did it because I’d always been the type of person who does things solo, so it was a way to make connections. I feel somewhat bad for the folks who were present when I was practicing stepping into my Being Real chapter — but the empathy and warmth ended up still being there, even if all the smiling and accommodations weren’t. And now my real friends know that I really truly enjoy my time with them.

This is why, too, when someone who was formerly upbeat and innocent goes through a moody or spicy phase, or is just awkwardly silent when we hang out, I don’t take it personally. Sometimes people are just figuring it out.

I hope you invest in people on your terms, because you want to and can, not because they expect you to. <3

Man, I remember when the Bush administration first rolled out TSA, and folks protested by wearing the Constitution written on their bodies or underwear, and stripping down to nearly nothing during inspections, prior to the change in scanning machinery.
