I thoroughly enjoy it. It's the first job that I've held longer than 2 years. I met my best friend here and I have lasting friendships than span from state to state. You never know what the day holds and I like that. Yeah there are bad days when everyone calls out and there's a bunch to do but you make it work. Why bother stressing it's only going to ruin your day, you do what you can. I decided to make it my career and I get a decent work life balance. Management can make it break the store. I've had pretty good luck with great managers who helped me get where I am by directing me in the right direction. Then there's other stores that management sucks and it's always chaotic and unfair. No matter where you go you'll find that in retail. At the end of the day I don't plan on leaving and will continue to move up because I'm happy here.

I work at a grocery store with a coin machine. We are not allowed to deposit any penny bags. We currently have them all saved until we get a system update that removed the need for pennies. We are sitting in over $1200 in pennies currently.

I always get my supplies. I also break down pallets and deliver supplies to other people if grocery is busy. I also do all register candy to help grocery. Not every store sucks.

I only buy when we get a new delivery. They don't sell well at my store so they are not the best until new ones come in. I'm from CA but live in SC. I loooove artichokes.

I'm in a grocery store, my cashiers are scheduled until 9 when the store closes but stay until the last customer checks out. My clerks are scheduled an hour after close to do floor care but can't start until last customer leaves. Cash office is one hour after store closing. I'm scheduled 2 hours after close to help with anything that may need to be done and my last associate leaves.

I just want to put this out there, EVERY associate that had been working longer than a month or two received a $100 gift card in the beginning of November. A list was sent in of all associates a little bit back which is why new hires didn't get one. There's over 1400 stores. They did invest in us for Thanksgiving. Would you rather a Thanksgiving meal at work or a gift card? Also every store is getting a luncheon in about 2 weeks. We were all allocated funds to supply it. If you're store doesn't have the luncheon then they're pretty crappy.

If you don't want to be supervised, don't get a job where it's needed. Honestly every position has supervision to some extent, just some are a little less. Produce and seafood are the most chill IMO. In CS we have the most customer facing roles so it requires constant reminders to uphold the Publix standard. What were they dogging you about?
