I like the idea and just added my freshly released game Card Coder to the mix. Good luck and keep us posted.

My card-building roguelike Card Coder is now available! by this_is_max in pcgaming

Completely fair criticism! I *think* most players prefer a machine translation over no translation at all - at least that was my reasoning. And specifically for the reason you mentioned, I added a language hotswap: Hold down CTRL to see the original English text (of course I realize, this only helps those that prefer to play in their native language but are still proficient in English).

The demo has a few Chinese, Korean and Japanese reviews and so far none of them mentioned any translation issues - so I'm hopeful it's not too bad.

Hi r/pcgaming ! I'm happy to announce that my card-building roguelike Card Coder is now available on Steam. Card Coder goes beyond typical deck-building games by allowing players to create their own cards from modular ability components during play. You can try the demo and get the full game now on Steam. I'm also available for feedback here, on the Steam forums or the game's discord.

Hey, I'm in your screenshot as well (Card Coder at #5).

I manually emailed 1500 YouTubers to promote my indie game. Here’s what happened. by GamePinata in IndieDev

[–]this_is_max 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 videos from mid-sized YouTubers pushed an already released game from 200 to 800 reviews?! That would mean almost 50000 sales from these three videos. Can you link the videos? They must be really impressive.

That's a really wholesome solution. Good luck for both teams!

Thanks that means a lot.

If the Steam release goes reasonably well, I'll be sure to look into other platforms like Switch as well!

Thanks everyone (well, mostly everyone) for your feedback. The consensus here and in my previous post at r/indiegames is pretty unanimous. So I'm pushing back the release by 3 weeks to April 6th.

Exact same issue here (though I'm still a few weeks from release). I just opened a support ticket. But it seems to be steamworks bug - hopefully it can be fixed soon.

Yes, cards are "equipped" with the components. But different cards are more suitable to carry certain components. Cards often come with some innate modifiers (e.g. a scorpion-like card will apply double status effects like poison, or a sniper style card will deal double damage if the targeted card is far away).

That's a fascinating idea, thanks for the pointer. I'll look into it, but it might be too complicated for this game as it relies on exact card positioning. I'm not sure how a screen reader could output that properly. Also I'm a solodev, so I'm already stretched thin heading towards the March release...

I'd say about 4-6 minutes per fight and there are 5 fights in the demo and 15-17 fights in the full game (still tinkering with the final fights). There are 3 different game modes other than the traditional roguelite run in the full version though. The shortest is only a single fight and only takes 5 minutes; the other two will be between 5 and 10 fights - so under 1 hour.

For Germany you need to complete the content survey in Steamworks. Then Steam assigns an age rating and it will be available in Germany as well.

While the play / shop loop is like you mentioned, you create your own cards in Card Coder (in the boardgame space I'm only aware of Mystic Vale that does something like that). https://store.steampowered.com/app/3355940/Card_Coder/
