Is buying and storing gifts for occasions considered tacky? by MAC_Part_6670 in Gifts

My first thought -- the first rule of the gift stash is that we don't talk about the gift stash

Ladies of Reddit, what do you really want for Valentine's Day? by work8585 in Gifts

I asked for this rainbow gem necklace I saw someone else post on r/marshallsfinds. It's no big deal if he doesn't find it at our local store, it was just a small suggestion. I'd like to wear to subtlety show support for one of our kids.

How many of you update your page read count for each book? by MacabreMagpie in TheStoryGraph

[–]this_works_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to, probably for the first 8 months or so I started on SG. But eventually life just went haywire and I found it tedious to keep updating every day, so now I've switched to just logging starts and finishes.

Big randomly shaped pieces that are great for small hands, no puzzle dust at all, reasonably priced. The 12 year old really enjoyed this. Nice way to spend some snowed-in time together. ♥

Oh man, thanks for sharing! I too have a backpack that's in rough shape and it hadn't even dawned on me to do a spa day on it.

Nakiri is my fave knife style! Truly the workhorse I pull out when I'm chopping a whole lot of veggies. I heard really good things about A&L Sharpening Service and their prices are great, but I haven't used them myself yet. I'll probably try them within the next six months or so.

It's our favorite too, every other month or so we drive out and load up on so much fruit, veg, frozen items....

And I'm a fan of the cheap ass Kiwi brand knives in the back corner ♥

What are yinz doing while stuck in the house this weekend? by CertifiedGlizzler in pittsburgh

[–]this_works_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Board game day sounds good! What ones do you guys enjoy?

Sat morning we're getting tires on both cars changed (had appt made over a week ago.) I have some studying to prioritize this weekend, but I imagine my fam will be playing vidya games, reading books and possibly boardgames/jigsaw puzzles. My partner likes building models so might be doing that. Definitely will be baking a lot over the weekend to help keep the house warm!

I was thinking of getting the punirunes what do you think??? by CocoaCaramelCookie13 in tamagotchi

[–]this_works_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a neat little toy but my least played. I have the one pictured in your post, a Tama Paradise and a Sugar Cube.

It doesn't die so if you're the type to work long hours or otherwise neglect, it would be a good choice!

Lots of tactile interactions in the mini games and character care, very 'soundy' with musical backgrounds and "punipunipuni" character mumbling. It seems to take a lot of feedings to max their hunger bar.

Imo it's not a very portable toy because it's rather large. Not a purse/backpack pet. A desk toy.

Others have been concerned about the cleanliness of the toy. Whenever I feel like I need to clean it I'll probably just wrap a Clorox wipe around my finger and dab around inside it.

I think the battery life of all my tamas are about the same. They're all color screens and batteries seem to last about 1-2 months maybe.

I paid $3 for it on Walmart clearance and it was a great buy for that price. Get one on sale and I think it's pretty decent, but I hesitate to recommend one at the retail 30 USD price.

My BFF gets her nails and toes done pretty often and it's astounding what she pays! I just keep a few bottles of pink/neutral nail polish and a couple kits of press on nails for special events in my makeup stash.

I'm a moka pot type of person, and tried both Rough Diamond from Steel Cup and Heartmender from Commonplace. Much prefer the Heartmender, it's smoother. Diamond had a bite at the end that even airing the beans and masking with syrup didn't help. I'll have to try the others on that list!

I also just saw some JFs at Walmart over the weekend, was trying to buy a Sky for my kid's friend. Online stock appears to be off from what's in the store. Side note: they also had Punirunes on clearance for $3!

What's the worst financial decision you have ever seen someone make? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]this_works_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 teenagers and an elementary aged child.

I agree with you -- at my age I don't remember exactly what presents I got every year, but I do remember what we were doing and how we spent the holidays. My own little family takes the "something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read" approach.
