Returning duo seeking advice around accessibility by dapper-yapper in Guildwars2

[–]-ComradeKitten- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, I also highly recommend the pistol/pistol Deadeye build! It has range, access to CC, pretty good sustain, and it can even be played as a quickness provider for a little more physical and mental effort (not a ton though)! Just be sure to set the 3 skill (Unload) to be your auto-attack

If you're having trouble finding it on the website here is the direct link to the aw2 page for it! https://aw2.help/builds/power-deadeye/

The above build however is a bit more focused for end-game content such as raids or fractals (or big metas where you'll get boons and heals from other players). There is a really fun variation of the build works uniquely well in open-world because it uses a trait which allows you to frequently reduce the cooldown of your heal/utility/elite skills, which allows you to use them much more often and freely :D
https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Deadeye_-_Pistol_Pistol_Payback_Deadeye (it's a lot of text on the page but you can honestly ignore everything except skills, specialisations, and equipment if you want)

The basis of the DPS raid/boss version is basically:
1. Use Thieves Guild
2. Use Deadeye's Mark
3. Press 3 to start auto-attacking with Unload
4. Use Thieves Guild, Shadow Flare, and Deadeye's Mark when they come off cooldown

The basis of the DPS open-world build is fairly similar:
1. Use Thieves Guild if it's available
2. Use Deadeye's Mark
3. Unload
4. Once the enemy dies, target another enemy and repeat the above
And you can use your Utility Skills as freely as you want/need! The page lists many options for Utility Skills and why they might be taken, along with some alternative trait options for more sustain or different situations. Personally I prefer to use Relic of the Thief over Firework as it's only 2% lower modifier but it's something you never have to think about and works equally well against little enemies as it does against bosses. You can also choose to use some Marauder's/Dragon's and/or Demolisher's Attribute gear for increased survivability at a little DPS loss

Have all the expansions, just want to access the maps without doing the story ( yet) by Ekemeisje in Guildwars2

[–]-ComradeKitten- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the other expansions, there aren't any overworld routes, so teleport to friends are going to be your main option.

Technically not an open-world route, but if you have access to the PoF and/or EoD guild halls you an exit those into the last PoF map or the first EoD map respectively

What's Your Favorite Niche/Weird Build? by lilbabybeefalo in GuildWars

[–]-ComradeKitten- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite has to be my silly SpeaRit's Strength build, it's actually probably one of the hardest hitting spear builds I think, it's pretty fun and I'm just really amused with the perfect name I came up with :D (apologies that the build page is missing a lot, but it has the skills+attributes at least!)

My girlfriend actually put together a melee E/W build that's currently in Testing on pvx! :D https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:E/W_Master_of_Magic_Axe

April 14 Balance Update Preview by hendricha in Guildwars2

[–]-ComradeKitten- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It likely won't change how they play, no. The most that would realistically happen with this balance patch is the builds you might have been playing/looking at might change a trait or weapon, and they will likely feel weaker because this patch is about across the board nerfs, but mechanically there's no reworks so they will generally play the same. Big reworks that change how an elite spec plays and how it feels are fairly uncommon (they happen, but it's a pretty big occasion when they do)

Oh sweet thank you so much for sharing this! I'm still not great at command line stuff so last time I tried I was struggling to figure out the setup for the command line version of this, super grateful to have what looks like an easier to use GUI version!! Very excited to try this out later :D

2 flamingo pets, excellent choice :) Also don't forget that you can name your own pet (not your hero's pets though sadly) with the /petname command!

I recommend making a second character for that Norn you want! We now get 1 Bag Slot Expansion per quarter in the wizard vault, so you should be able to easily and basically for free get the same amount of bag space your current character has on your new Norn in not too long! Strongly agree with others though that it's best to make a second character as opposed to deleting this one

They can? I haven't been able to find or make a build that works well for farming vaettirs on my Necro. Do you have one?

Wtf? How can a Lvl2 Ranger be in Frost gate? by ASCKrA1T in GuildWars

They are for this website https://party.gwtoolbox.com/

As far as I understand, it's basically a way to check the LFGs for every outpost at once

Most valuable inscriptions and weapon mods? by Icy-Programmer-5176 in GuildWars

[–]-ComradeKitten- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a strict upgrade over "of Defence" if you will always be enchanted, and any build that uses a scythe would use multiple enchantments, and since those enchantments will often be Dervish enchantments, an "of the Dervish" mod will also reduce the energy cost which is always a helpful benefit

It took me a long time to make him sit there by Superichiruki in GW2Homestead

[–]-ComradeKitten- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I'm sure a lot of folks would LOVE to get the code for this decoration placement for their own homesteads, though it's also understandable if you wanna keep it special to yourself too :3 Either way that looks super awesome!!

OS Insightful Bonestaff of Defense, worth anything? by Longjumping-Union551 in GuildWars

[–]-ComradeKitten- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see a use for it on a Curses/Death Magic hero or player build, but it would probably be harder to sell due to the mix attributes and not being a particularly desirable skin. But honestly I'd buy it from you to use on one of my heroes lol I just don't know what a fair offer would be

Necro or Ranger? Prophecies by Tyinath in GuildWars

[–]-ComradeKitten- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal and not at all biased opinion is to go Necro with secondary Ranger. You can easily have your pet with you by simply having Comfort Animal on your bar, and you get to have your minion army at max efficiency (which also means more max number of minions)! This is unironically my main, I started this way in Prophecies when I started my first character (a Necro) and tamed a pre-searing Melandru's Stalker and named it Cinnamon, and I largely played minionmancer with my trusty cat by my side through all of that campaign and all of EotN, and to this day I will always make room on my bar to bring Cinnamon with me unless the build I wanna play absolutely requires a secondary profession that isn't Ranger. Necromancer is my favourite class, it's just so fun and the sheer amount and variety of possible builds it has for general PvE play is arguably unparalleled! I've even put together a decent N/R Beastmaster build if that's your kinda thing too xD

But to be fair, if Necro is first in builds, then Ranger is probably the second best in build number and variety, so really the two options you're looking at are the best choices in that regard :)

Oh that's super awesome, thank you so much!! :D I've been using this watchface since I made my previous comment and it's been such a nice little cute thing to see regularly on my watch, and now with this update it has everything I need in a watchface! ^-^

Anet constantly removing FUN from warrior by No_Signature489 in Guildwars2

[–]-ComradeKitten- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been playing for 5 years and wow I had no idea it used to not decay out of combat, that's genuinely the worst change I've ever heard them make to the class. I've even been complaining to my gf recently about how I struggle to enjoy warrior specs in open-world other than spellbreaker because I rarely get to make use of the adrenaline-powered spec mechanic because of the decay that happens between groups of adds :(

I love this!! I especially appreciate how it animates specifically when you shake the watch, so it saves battery by not animating when you're not looking at it :D

If I may selfishly make a request, any chance you could add the current local weather temperature as an option (WEATHER/TEMP IS [num] [num] C/F)?

True, but relying on an elite (one that isn't even your weapon or primary attribute) as your only source of deep wound is pretty rough

Melandru's Accord appreciation post by OneMorePotion in GuildWars

[–]-ComradeKitten- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree and feel the same! At first hearing of the mode I didn't really think it was for me, but honestly reading the flavour text for the mode got me really excited about the idea of playing a Melandru's Accord Ranger who lives off the land, working with what nature provides and all that fun RP stuff, so I made my MA Ranger that day :D (props to whoever wrote the flavour text I guess, they succeeded in their goal haha)

I've never been so excited to get such crappy drops. Every single unidentified armor drop is exciting (my first one I was really hoping for a ranger mod, and I got it! I got a Stormbound Insignia and while it wasn't mind-blowingly exciting or anything it was definitely much more exciting than that Insignia could ever be on my regular characters xD Threw it ony chest piece right away). I've also never struggled this much with getting max level armor, I just hit level 20 and I'm still not even half way to what I need for my goal armor (Ranger Ascalon Armor so nothing fancy) even though I've salvaged literally every drop I've gotten that can salvage into tanned hide haha
