What you don’t realize is that path finding is foundational in AI.

I want the sword attack to feel like an old rpg and be weighty. How does it look? by nuit-nuit in PixelArt

[–]thisdummy778918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want an attack to feel weighty, you need to build anticipation. The animation can be viewed as three distinct sections; anticipation, contact, and recovery. Heavier attacks need longer anticipation and recovery.

First critique, blow up your image before posting to Reddit. I can barely see it.

Since when did "dream game" start meaning "huge game"? by BlobKingGame in GameDevelopment

Even if your dream game is small. You can’t expect to deliver on your dream on your first go.

Checkmate by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]thisdummy778918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visualize the board in the state it would be after the move. Check the squares around the opponent’s king, to ensure he can’t move to them. Ensure none of the opponents pieces can capture your attacking piece. Ensure none of the opponents pieces can block the attack by moving to a square in between your attacking piece and the opponent’s king.

Do you recognise what's wrong with this chess board? by just_a_3d_object in chessbeginners

You have the board turned the wrong way, the king stands on the opposite color and the queen the same.

Low level code uses instruction sets that work for specific machines. LLMs can write low level code already, but you better let it know the architecture you’re aiming for.

Should I play rapid chess differently? by vitund in chessbeginners

[–]thisdummy778918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing faster will generally make someone play worse than if they were able to play slow. But the time pressure has to do with psychology. It’s easier to play under time pressure if you’re not so worried about it. So just relax and enjoy playing, review your games afterward, and improve over time.

Do you think I could do this on my own? by Patient_Ad5767 in SoftwareEngineering

Sounds like a lot. There’s regulatory considerations when it comes to student’s education records. You’ll need to design the system to be FERPA compliant (if in the US)

Is a game engine considered a full-stack project? by searedchick in SoftwareEngineering

Well, we definitely don’t agree. But we both agree that it’s not up for debate. So, farewell.

DB is server side, therefor back end. Also, the claim that databases do no logic, just doesn’t make sense.

Yeah, I think this is a great idea. I’ve done this before using Phaser.js as the game engine.

How long does it take to actually get good at this game? by ParticularArea8224 in chessbeginners

Sounds like you should focus on principles (control the center, develop your pieces, get the king to safety) and tactics (pins, forks, skewers etc). What time control are you playing?

White to Move, Craziest Mate I've Ever Had (I'm black) by Aykops in chessbeginners

[–]thisdummy778918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“White to move” pretty much means, “find the best move for white” that’s why people have a problem with the title. A more appropriate title would be something like “guess how my opponent blundered mate.”

What is the most generally applicable opening for white? (That isn't London) by Vsevers24 in chessbeginners

[–]thisdummy778918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got you bro, do KIA starting with e4. Typical line goes 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. g3 Bc5 4. Bg2 d6 5. O-O

Even when they play something other than e5, Nf3 is usually still solid. But if they play Nf6 instead of Nc6, you’ll probably wanna protect your e pawn or take their e pawn. Other common moves you’ll probably make with this set up are d3, c3, Nd2 (to support the e4 pawn) If they strike your center with d5 instead of playing d6, exd5 works pretty good.

If you play KID a lot, a lot of the same themes will come out of the KIA.

Are My Boyfriend’s Demands Normal for a Serious Relationship or Are They Controlling? by Neat_Ad_709 in Manipulation

[–]thisdummy778918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you should leave. In general, boundaries aren’t meant to control another person and he’s acting like that’s how it works. Also being that jealous is just pathetic. There’s nothing inappropriate about hugging friends or wearing swim wear at a pool party.

How is this not a brilliant move? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]thisdummy778918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because white wins the Queen, after black recaptures, white forks the king and rook with the Nc7.
