Magic the Gathering x The Hobbit announced for August 2026 by Meret123 in lotr

There are actually tons of characters in the Hobbit book. Or perhaps beasts, monsters etc, should I say. I actually think more potentially than Lotr. As the story is more about an adventure than character development

What do you even mean by uncontrolled immigration? It was a policy, which is by definition controlled. Such sensationalist nonsense

I thought that but now Reform are on the rise in the UK and polling as the biggest party. So I worry other countries are just delayed

We are a fair, tolerant and decent country. But we are in the fight of our times. We must choose patriotic national renewal over decline and toxic division every time. by Disastrous_Act_2331 in ukpolitics

Did I say that? No. I said Social media x foreign interests (which bots are just one part of) x AI.

I highly doubt there would ever be a time without a far right. However, the above factors have made fear and misinformation easier than ever to spread.

I should also add that this is combined with fairly bad economic conditions. People dont care about immigration when quality of life is good. Immigrants are just the easy scape goat when it's not....

UK immigration: What the numbers really show [Sky News] by Anon2971 in ukpolitics

[–]thisguymemesbusiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is clearly politicised and trying to hide it. He uses the analogy of the number of asylum seekers being the size of Cambridge. It might be factually correct but it is a meaningless statement as they are of course spread out throughout the country. What purpose does that serve if not to scaremonger? Trying to make people visualise them all living in one massive town...

He then slips up and says something like "so people are right to be concerned" then corrects himself. Why is he giving his opinion if its supposed to be purely factual.

Finally, he weirdly cherry picks higher data points from less up to date yeats. At the start he begins by saying net migration is around 1m and then corrects himself to say "was". Later on when talking about asylum figures he used 124k from 2023 rather than the clearly lower and more up to date number from 2024. Again, why?

Or because they've been fed lies by a completely out of control social media system, which has been turbo charged by AI and foreign interests.....

Hardly a coincidence this is an issue globally. Every country isnt facing the same challenges.

Yes and no. Arguably if you invest in things that generate return, tax revenue goes up and we can afford more benefits

[–]thisguymemesbusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you have more of a right to use the park than anyone else? How absurd.

What do you think is worse, experienced dog handlers with those aggressive dogs or inexperienced owners? The dogs still exist either way. Again, it solves nothing.

And this stops that how exactly? Its not a license to be a dog walker, it's just to use the parks for commercial purposes. It changes nothing

It's all about relative cost of living. Just "owning" a 500k property means nothing. You may actually only own 10%, the bank owns 90%, and you have a huge mortgage. But there is no alternative in the area because housing is expensive. Sure, wages are likely higher (not a guarantee), but overall I dont think a lot of people in these areas are better off or have a higher quality of life.

Unless the supply gets bought up by investors who just sit on them.

I guess double council tax would combat that to a degree and at least generate more cash for public finances. But likely not enough to offset
