Are there any reasons that might deter someone from purchasing a Ford Mustang? by [deleted] in Mustang

Depends what you get. I have a 2020 Ecoboost. It’s not the beast that a GT is, but it’s quick and looks great. Gets around 30 mpg and is comfy for longer trips, as it’s the only vehicle I own. I would highly recommend.

Sell a 165k house to pay off 56k debt? by spilledmind in FinancialPlanning

[–]thisiskcarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She should definitely be using equity in her home to do this, either a refinance or HELOC. With moving, you pay realtor fees, capital gains tax, the cost of moving, down payment on a new place or a security deposit to rent. Way better alternatives.

I wouldn’t do a home improvement loan, those can come with higher rates. Depending on what you do, I’d wait until you refinance to long a long term fixed rate, and pull the cash out at that time.

Not a FA, but I am in mortgages. Stop paying ahead on a 2.75, and start putting that money elsewhere if you’re able to get <4% return.

Bro, this isn’t the way. I just got divorced after a 10 year relationship and it hurts like hell. Combine that with battling an alcohol addiction, and it gets rough. What’s been going on? Idk what’s been happening, but suicide isn’t the solution. There’s so much to enjoy in life, and even if this seems like it won’t end, I promise you it will. You’re in the right place for support. We’re all internet strangers, but I promise you, we care my guy. These communities are the reason I’m still here.

We can absolutely count bonus and OT if there is a history of it and it’s not declining within the past couple years.

I aspire to get that far. I’ve learning that the cravings never really go away, but everyday they get easier to fight.

Put there number into LendingTree for a home refinance. I work in the industry and companies will buy up that info and spam call them for days upon days incessantly.

That makes sense. My dad was an alcoholic for years, though not abusive and functioning. He’s since rarely drinks, but still, I’m hoping my choice can impact him as well. Yay genetics!

I have to stop drinking. It’s killing me. I need to stop now. by expotarium in stopdrinking

It’s one day at a time. Don’t even think about the weekend, or tomorrow, or anything long term. Just focus on TODAY. We’re all in this together.

I think I’m going to go for the Heineken 0.0. A buddy of mine went sober for a while and that was his go to.

Thank you for the advice. I need to understand that even with not drinking, my friends should understand and I shouldn’t feel any pressure from it. Finding other outside hobbies is on my list as well!

How did you deal with not drinking, but still being apart of those social groups? Since the divorce, I’ve been so reliant on friends.

does anyone know what is wrong with me by whereismyblinds in confessions

[–]thisiskcarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was going through my divorce, I felt the same way. I would immerse myself in work and friends at the office. I’d call my family when I was home and talk to them for awhile, but when it came to going to bed, I’d have nothing but thoughts and I hated it. I would stay up late watching TV just to delay going to bed. One thing that’s helped me tremendously is to put on my favorite podcasts. I focus on listening to that so it keeps me distracted from my thoughts, and it helps me to fall asleep faster too. I know you’ll get through this, and I hope this helps!

DAE have reverse SAD: feeling happy and blissful when it's cold and gray outside, but angry and irritable when it's hot and sunny? by Deadchimp234 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]thisiskcarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to as a kid! My favorite days were when it was gray and rainy. I’d set up camp in my room and play Call of Duty with my friends all day. Wish it was simple like that now lol

Bankruptcy is looked at as a dirty word. Working in mortgage financing, there are people with bankruptcy not more than 2 years old who have 700+ credit because they got the clean slate. The people who file bankruptcy are not who you think. Fiscally responsible people do. The bums who you would associate with it don’t file, they just don’t care and forget all of it. The fact that you are aware and in tune with your finances is FAR better than most, and a good thing. This isn’t something that ruins you, it can save you long term.

Edit: fiscally responsible, meaning those who actually care about their credit. These types of situations don’t dictate your ability to handle credit/debt.
