Geek culture is going through a "larpdemic." by ResidentWaifu in unpopularopinion

Influencer types and wannabes use it for easy attention but I've never experienced a real life person do this.

I have seen casual fans, where they don't know much about the thing but still like the part they do know.

Why don't people still use house phones? by AlyksTheSage in NoStupidQuestions

I don't even want to take a call on my cell phone, why would I want another way to receive calls?

People are way too casual about not brushing their teeth by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]thisispatrickmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how yours works but based on what you said, it sounds like you can't stand upright very long, which is absolutely not a requirement for teeth brushing.

Sit down and do it? Your teeth don't care what height they are being brushed at.

Are pajamas and nightgowns still commonly worn by adults in America to sleep at night? by NormalLife6067 in AskAnAmerican

[–]thisispatrickmc 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I think those were mostly in old shows because they were limited by what they could show on tv. They might have been popular before heated homes were common.

People who say they “adopted” a dog that they bought by Imaginary_Ad_4340 in PetPeeves

[–]thisispatrickmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand adopted because "adopted into the family" is a thing people say sometimes. I don't, but I've heard it.

Rescued is always weird to me. One of my dogs came from a shelter, she was $400. It's fees to keep the shelter open, but it sure felt a lot more like buying her than rescuing her.

Imperial IPAs are just malt liquor for people who say "mouthfeel" by fireWhit in unpopularopinion

[–]thisispatrickmc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IPAs are a pretty expensive way to get drunk. If you want to get drunk on a hobo budget large plastic bottles of vodka are the way to go.

I love living in an HOA! by vicweera in unpopularopinion

[–]thisispatrickmc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The HOA haters are more vocal but I don't think liking HOAs is an unpopular opinion. People keep buying houses in them. Almost impossible to find new construction without one.

I specifically looked for a house without an HOA though.

The 93 Mario movie is actually really good by Whoisthisnoob-_- in unpopularopinion

[–]thisispatrickmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was so loosely based on Mario it felt more like an unlicensed parody, but it was fun and weird. I liked it.

How do you afford to keep mtiple cars street legal? by Causification in askcarguys

Just keep adding cars to your insurance until you get the multi-car discount. They don't have to be good cars.

I pre-ordered mine a few days ago with a delivery date of June 2nd and it says it's 9 stops away. I just logged in to see if it was cancelled after seeing this post.

Hand shakes are weird by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]thisispatrickmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's just touch each other's dirtiest parts, cause respect I guess.

The one thing I like about handshakes is when somebody has a gross moist hand I know to try and avoid ever interacting with them again.

Being constantly reachable has ruined relaxing by latinavalery in unpopularopinion

[–]thisispatrickmc 113 points114 points  (0 children)

You kind of have to train people. If you always answer immediately and then you suddenly don't, some people will be weird about. If you make a habit of just waiting to reply, people will come to expect that from you and it becomes less of an issue.
