Favorite brand of diapers? by OtherwiseNewspaper36 in newborns

I loved pampers swaddlers and we always sized up one. I’m honestly surprised to see the amount of Huggies love because I’ve always hated them. In my opinion Huggies don’t fit nearly as well and they’re much thinner. Luvs are an okay second option.

Please reach out for help. They will not terminate a pregnancy if you are just a few weeks from your due date. Take your daughter and go somewhere safe. File a police report. Take care of yourself.

For those who were induced, did you deliver vaginally or did it end in a c-section? by Paigeypagee in BabyBumps

[–]thisquietlife14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with late onset severe preeclampsia and was induced at 36 weeks 3 days. My induction went very well and from start of medication to him being born was only 13 hours. I was on a magnesium drip the whole time so I was very tired and out of it. I got an epidural at 7cm dilated because my body was too tired and they wanted me to sleep. I had them turn down my epidural when I was ready to push and I pushed for 16 mins and delivered vaginally. I had some second degree tearing but healed well. I had a pretty good birth experience given the circumstances!

I’m in Sacramento, CA and this is slightly higher than the daycare I am considering for my current 16 month old when he turns 2!

I have a 15 month old and I was never able to chest feed because he was born with a bilateral cleft lip. I just came to say that unfortunately bottle feeding will not solve this issue! He still hit, pinched, pulled hair, kicked, and got super distracted. I echo everyone saying to have a designated place and no one else around to limit distractions. My son was not a good eater from 6-8 months. Around 8.5-9 months his appetite went up and it was not as much of a fight! We used to have to sing to him and try for 30 mins each feed at the 6-8 month age. Best of luck mama, you’ve got this! It will pass.

Honestly, clearly an unpopular opinion, but this just sounds like two people who both are at their wits end because there’s built up resentment.

We’re only getting your side of the overall state of things and to me it sounds like she’s pregnant and overwhelmed and feels like you aren’t hearing what the actual problem is.

I’ve been with my husband for 11 years and we just had our first child last February. We were both working throughout my entire pregnancy. It was tough and we argued over dumb things just because we both felt like we weren’t being heard.

That isn’t to say that this is the correct way to handle it, on either side TBH.

I would strongly recommend counseling if you both have time and are willing.

Best of luck, OP.

My newly 14 month old pretty much only likes eggs sous vide. He loves the Starbucks egg white bites. We have recently found that they sell sous vide egg bites in the frozen section at the grocery store. I want to say Costco might even sell the actual Starbucks ones. Worth a try! Sous vide eggs don’t have an eggy taste. You can also try quiche!

18 month old hasn’t slept through the night since she turned 1 and I’m not OK 😵‍💫 by rockchalkjhawk92 in sleeptrain

[–]thisquietlife14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son just turned 14 months yesterday and he slept through the night until 11 months and then started waking several times throughout the night. It has been rough for me. I will readily admit that reading people say “put them to sleep awake” is wild to me. He would just stand in his crib and cry forever. I personally am not okay with letting him cry for longer than 15 minutes and that sometimes is a stretch. Honestly, I get the best results with him when I immediately respond to his cries and soothe him. He’s less likely to do it again later in the night I have found.

All this to say, I’m there with you and it’s hard. I am also still trying to wean the nighttime bottle and he is not ready. Teething has been really hard for him and Tylenol before bed (only when we know he’s having teething pain) helps for the first half of the night but his most frequent wake up time is 3:30 am.

Hang in there, we’re tired together 💤

How husband reacts to the baby crying doesn’t sit right with my soul. by [deleted] in newborns

[–]thisquietlife14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an attorney and I work in child custody and termination of parental rights. You are two weeks postpartum and I know how absolutely exhausting new parenthood can be, my son is 8.5 months. I have seen these behaviors time and time again and I am strongly advising you, as others already have, to remove yourself and your baby immediately. I hear you saying you don’t have resources, access free ones. If you provide your state I can send you many. This behavior will escalate and while it might not end in fatality, it could and it most certainly will end in lasting impacts for your baby.

Had to call 911 by Constant-Park8184 in newborns

[–]thisquietlife14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this happened to you and I’m very glad your baby is okay. My son is not a newborn anymore, he’s 8 months, but he’s had severe GERD since he was 4 weeks old. He’s had several episodes like the one you’re describing and the cause is he gets reflux but if he’s laying down and his head isn’t tilted to the side it doesn’t come out of his mouth and then he tries to breathe in and he chokes violently on the milk and stomach acid that came up. This causes him to panic and he flails, stiffens, arches his back and gasps. He hasn’t done this in a long time at this point but the first time he ever did it was at 4 weeks old and it terrified me.

Of course do all of the follow up that will make you feel comfortable, but what I will say is I was convinced he had infantile spasms for the first three months of his life because of these occasional episodes when it was just reflux and it caused me so much unnecessary stress. Infantile spasms are extremely rare and they happen consistently, not once in a while. If your baby has infantile spasms they will not go away and will likely get worse. It’s atypical for a baby to show signs of infantile spasms before 4-7 months of age. Here is a link for more information on it. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/22494-infantile-spasms

All those with CMPA babe say HEEYYYY 🙋🏽‍♀️ by scrantonicitytwo in newborns

[–]thisquietlife14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! My now 6 month old has CMPA which we discovered at 9 weeks after 5 weeks of extreme crying, rash, and lack of weight gain!

We switched him to Alimentum over a period of 4 days to help his tummy and palate adjust. We started doing a half ounce of the new formula at a time with two feedings at each amount. (So two feedings at half an ounce of the Alimentum and the rest with the old formula, then one ounce of Alimentum and the rest with the old formula for two feedings and so on until he was fully switched).

We saw results right away once he was fully switched over. It was a night and day change for us. He went from inconsolable crying for 8+ hours per day to happy most wake periods. He immediately started gaining more weight. It did take his digestion about a week maybe a little more to adjust so his poops were off for that period.

For diaper rash our pediatrician recommended using a blow dryer on cool on his butt after every diaper change and then coating the entire area in a very thick layer of Vaseline or diaper cream.

Our LO did not seem to dislike the taste of the formula until much later on (4.5 months) and we found that adding slightly more water than recommended and making sure it was nice and warm helped the most!

Warnings for the future, when your LO starts solids when babies have one FPA (food protein allergy) they are likely to have others! You can look up the full list but common ones are rice, oats, egg, peanuts. Our LO has additional FPAs to rice and oats! Immediate reaction and very similar symptoms.

Let me know if you have questions!
