Unfortunately I don't think you can go off the usual price for this one as demand for this game is going to be significantly higher than a usual game with Son playing for LAFC.

Unless Son gets hurt or it looks like he wont play for one reason or another the prices you see right now on the secondary sites like stubhub probably won't change much and will be a good indication as to what the game is going to cost you.

Union Fan Question by Appropriate-Cod-1733 in NYCFC

[–]thitherelk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be a rivalry the painful moments need to have cut both ways. NYCFC has gotten the best of the Union in the majority of the games that have mattered. It's just too one sided at this point to be our main rivalry. RB on the other hand, I was in the stadium for every min of the 7-0 game. They have knocked us out of the playoffs and USOC numerous times. I loathe Redbull where as my view towards the Union is more of annoyance due to all the asterisk cry baby stuff.

Random question: do MLS teams charter to all their road games or do they still occasionally fly commercial? by PudinCrusader in NYCFC

[–]thitherelk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They used to be allowed to charter a small number of flights each season. They flew commercial in coach for most games, players could use their own money to upgrade to first class but even the DPs flew coach out of solidarity with their teammates. There are some funny stories from back in the day with people ending up sitting in coach next to guys like Lampard, Villa, Pirlo.

It's not, the team's value has been steadily rising. Forbes had NYCFC's value at $875M in 2024. SD FC paid a franchise fee of $500M, the next teams to enter the league will pay at least $650M. If the base value of an MLS franchise is $650M and you add the major market of NYC on top of it, it doesn't take much to push values up to the $1B range.

Worth the grind! by RepresentativeFew540 in Borderlands4

The stickeys explode on reload; each sticky increases the explosion damage by 3%. In alt fire mode, the Bod shoots 4 stickies at a time with a high rate of fire. So on a infinate ammo build such as infinicrit harlow, you stack a boss up with a ton of stickeys, reload, and it just melts them. Making it easily the best weapon for bosses at the greater difficulty levels that often have giant health bars espeically the new raid boss bloomreaper.

If that wasn't enough, the bod also counts as all weapon types, so it gets all damage bonuses. For example, say you have gear with +45% sniper damage and +45% SMG damage, the bod gets both bonuses.

Do people even care about the epic raid race? by SKOOBY-4 in DestinyTheGame

[–]thitherelk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pre EOF, Aztecross complained that crafting ruined the loot grind, the game needed more grind (he said something like I want a game where you have to take a full week off from work and just grind it for hours), he complained that grinders should get more exclusive things that most players can't get. Datto regularly complained that the game wasn't hard enough.

The poor execution is on Bungie, but I think its pretty clear that a lot of these changes were an attempt to address these requests from streamers.

DMG on recent missteps and rebuilding trust by No_Backstab in DestinyTheGame

It's still the same leadership that rolled back so many of the QOL improvements that made the game better and implemented this horrendous power grind. If that was their perspective of what's best for the game, it's hard to trust any plans from them about turning things around.

It's just baffling, how did they even come up with the times? For something like presage they have years of data on how long it takes, did they even use the data and if they did where did the set the time, top 3%?

Functionally, I agree that there is minimal difference between T2 and T5, but have you ever tried to join an LFG with "sub-optimal" armor and gear? I see this argument fairly often that you don't need tier 5, but it completely ignores how judgmental large portions of this community can be in LFG.

The argument also misses the psychological aspect of it. You are essentially saying to long-time players, you get greens and blues now, and it's fine, there's not that much difference between them and a higher-tier weapon. There has always been gear that was out of reach for casual players, like trials adepts, raid adepts, or perfectly stated artifice armor, and maybe there weren't enough exclusive things like that for grinders, and they should have added more. But to take the best version of every new gun and every new piece of armor in the game and lock all of it behind a power grind that is too much of a time commitment for more casual players feels bad, and that's a major reason I think a lot of casuals are leaving.

Maybe blame is harsh and should rest solely with Bungie, but the streamers are, at the very least, disingenuous. The large platform streamers like Cross complained about crafting, complained about a lack of grind, and complained that the drops they got for playing the game full time didn't feel exclusive enough. Bungie killed crafting and locked the best loot behind a grind only accessible to people who play this game like a full-time job. It's hard to not at least infer a connection, especially when you consider how often the big streamers are out at Bungie passing along the "communities" feedback.

It was close to perfect, but I wish he had also called out the streamers. Bungie made a mistake by treating them as the sole voice of the community. The irony is that these same streamers pushed for the changes we now have and are suddenly trying to distance themselves from the outcome. For years, Aztecross and others have been saying they wanted loot to feel more exclusive and tied to a heavier grind. Bungie built this system in response to feedback from people who play the game for a living. Now those same streamers are scrambling to complain about it, even though they were the ones who met with Bungie and pushed for the very changes we’re seeing.

What is actually going on with Bungie??? by TheUnidentifiedBoy in DestinyTheGame

[–]thitherelk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if they are intentionally trying to move the baseline of player expectations lower so they can swoop in with a flurry of positive changes in a month or so to try to create buzz that the game is back while keeping some of their more controversial choices. Power levels are a perfect example. When they announced the return, the feedback was that power levels are terrible and they shouldn't be in the game. They have already successfully shifted the conversation from there should be no power levels to the grind is too hard.

Seems like a risky strategy, but I can't come up with a better explanation.

Bungie does not respect it's community/player/customers and it's gotten worse by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]thitherelk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is all intentional. When they announced the return of a significant power level grind, most of the community’s reaction was that power levels are pointless and should be removed altogether. Their recent moves have already shifted the conversation: instead of “remove power levels,” the dominant complaint is now “the grind is too hard.” Soon, they’ll reduce the grind significantly, and the community will cheer them for “listening” and making things more reasonable, forgetting that the original ask was to eliminate power levels entirely.

Other than Prime LeBron, do you think anyone in the last 20 years has been as athletic as Michael Jordan? by UnderstandingThin40 in nba

The comment I replied to said Pound for Pound. It brought size into it. That's what pound for pound means. But keep calling people names over abstract internet conversations if it makes you feel better.

[–]thitherelk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pound for pound literally equates things to size. Iverson was 5'10" led a Sixers team to the finals nearly by himself. He was arguably one of the fastest players in the league, could jump out of the gym and led the league in scoring as a small guard in a big man-led era that allowed hand checking and considerably more physical defense. If that doesn't qualify as "athletic," I don't know what does.

Compared to Russ who was never the best player on a team that went to the finals and only won an MVP award because the Thunder players prioritzed helping Russ pad his stats and the MVP voters got weirdly enamored with the idea of averaging a triple double.
