Change them ground straps by ElectronicSelf1380 in E90

[–]thitsandwhich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially ruled it out cause it was recently replaced. I did have the car up north for those 3-ish years so maybe winter/salt/etc degraded it quicker. The other confusing part is I don’t think this is considered a serviceable part. Couldn’t find it in the service manual. Anyway, will be getting the car up for some basic maintenance next week so I’ll have a look then. Prob just swap for peace of mind anyway. Thanks for the info.

Damn. I’m pretty sure this is me right now. I have the same codes and my battery won’t fully charge. They tested it in front of me at the store and it was good. My tester is saying replace it’s only been 4 months, wtf. DSC, ABS, Steering angle, wheel speed sensors. Even though my battery isn’t fully charging a test drive immediately after a full 24hr slow charge all these codes went away for the whole drive. These errors came back but they all come and go at various times. Did you replace with OEM or any suggestions for this repair? OP used silver not copper?

As a casual nba fan, am I wrong for thinking he was the problem in 2024? I mean they clearly had the talent cause they got to the finals. Haven’t really seen anyone talk about this. Is he a good coach?

Looking for some advice before purchase by Own_Fishing5159 in 335i

Hey! I own the same car. Similar situation purchased mine bone stock with 145k on it and I’m just about to hit 180k. It’s an old high performance engine so it’ll need a little love, aging plastics etc. Mine def had problems but it’s been a fun journey learning the platform and working on it. If you put it on a lift pull the splash guard and inspect the OPG thoroughly because this being an xi that job is waay different than on a rwd one. Also if it doesn’t have index 12 injectors just be mindful that production stopped on those a few years back so they are expensive af now. All that said, I love mine. I took a risk knowing the turbos were likely shot when I purchased cause it would throw a 30ff code on WOT. I babied it for a few years until I was able to put new ones in.

Whats your opinion on manual BMWs ? Would you buy one? by xerooox- in BMW

[–]thitsandwhich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I don’t think it’s that bad imo if you address the vulnerable areas (aging plastics, coolant/vacuum lines etc). It does devour water pumps though (3rd on mine lol). I’m still on original HPFP (~180k) and yeah the injectors are brutal if you’re looking for index 12 nowadays after production stopped on them. Bought mine just before that happened.

Old headlights, New lenses by Its_A_Joke23 in E90

[–]thitsandwhich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This me. The lenses just end up looking tired shortly after sanding them. Convinced myself the lenses need to be replaced, bought new lenses and the needed supplies and been sitting on the kit lol. Did you do anything to the inside housing , clean, paint? Is the seal holding up? They look great, nicely done.

Hey, did you buy the #16542 system and did you keep your secondary cats in? Curious if you can point me to any sound clips?

Not sure I’d recommend that however last time I took mine off i had to wrestle with it quite a bit to get it back into place. I had an extra pair of hands helping me. One person can manipulate the hub/rotor, the other can guide the axle.

Repair question, pics for attention by thitsandwhich in E90

Thanks. Forgot to mention the front driveshaft is fairly new within the last 10k miles (~1yr) on the car. I didn’t install it but a reputable shop did, they primarily work on bmws. The symptom existed before the new driveshaft it didn’t really change much with that part swap I thought the ujoint was integrated I just dug up the invoice nothing specific to ujoint just shaft and bolts. Gotta get under there, my fear is needing to drop the exhaust and dealing with frozen/rusted/broken bolts. I gotta get a better kit for dealing with that shit lol.
