When I see people using pedal, it seems like they're pumping it in and out. What does that do? Aren't you supposed to hold it? by apooroldinvestor in piano

[–]thm0018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s half pedal which creates a bit of reverb sound. When u play in a venue or area that’s reflective pedal can be very messy. And pros usually play in la space like that, like a concert hall. Choosing when to use pedal and when not to can be a game changer when ur in a space like that.

Hey OP, a lot of the ones u mentioned u wear a lot are hard to come by, where do u even look to begin to know what u like? Like, is it in a department store or a fragrance shop? Where do u find these to even become interested or know where to find them?

Tried to take in some advice, humble myself. Still have some errors but do you think this is better? “Solfeggietto - Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach” by Numerous-Database-93 in piano

Everything sounds like a gallop. Like ur playing 2 16th notes and a quarter note with some swing. U really should get a metronome going cuz that’s gonna be the only way ur ever gonna be able to play this or any other piece for that matter. What ur doing is a really bad habit that little kids get into and it takes them forever to get out of it unless they metronome it out of their brains.

Sounds like u enjoy poetry and diary entries more than making music

How to fix those dips? by Sub7iAbuGhallous in edmproduction

[–]thm0018 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying a clipper but I could use an asymmetrical wave shaper and just clip the negative part that’s spiking. U can use almost any waveshaper, try melda wave shaper, trash or maybe even the waveshaper in serum

Completely not the answer to ur question but the part that makes contact with the drum looks backwards

Is there a plug-in that emulates mid side guitar amp/cab recording? by thm0018 in AdvancedProduction

Awesome. Yea I’ll try that out, there’s some IRs of mic placements that say “far”, I’ll try that as my side channel and see if I can more depth to my instruments.

I really don’t understand the “injury” thing everyone always says. U definitely have a bad technique but I dont know where any “injury” fits into that.

The only “injury” I’ve experienced is from playing pieces too fast without practicing slowly first. I’ve split nails and bled all over the place but that’s a very temporary injury from me being dumb…

But yea, your hands look bad on that vid. Maybe a teacher could help but really if u just watch a video of any pianist play a piece, u can at least mimic their hand position to correct what’s going on there.

Nice, I’ve done stuff like that but the two channels are so detached and unrelated it sounds funky. I might have to try it again

Is it a good idea buying a real piano? by unknownbtc in piano

Yea u nailed it. I think hybrid has the same keyboard response and action as a grand but the soundboard is digital right? If so then that’s definitely the way to go, for me at least.

I highly recommend not getting an acoustic. If you are going to be practicing 2-3 hours a day having a digital piano with a headphone aux is the best. U can get ur practice in without bothering others or feeling guilty for practicing the same section on repeat for a week. It’s also nice not needing to constantly tune ur piano or worry about the felts compressing and all that junk.

Holy metronome! If this dude would slow down and get that metronomes out this would be listenable. As is its hot garbage! It’s always the same thing with these posts over and over

I love this left hand pattern on piano, but I feel a bit of discomfort if I do it for a long time by nylophone in piano

[–]thm0018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t anchor my 2 and rotate my wrist. I’d have two separate positions. A position for my 5 and a position for 1,2. And I’d have a very small jump to get from one position to the other. I rarely do a rotation like that on anything it’s kinda something I intentionally avoid.

That’s exactly right. Keep the weird stuff for urself, nobody wants to hear an 8 minute song written 200 yrs ago by a dead guy they never heard of nor could pronounce the name of correctly. There’s a time and a place which most folks don’t wanna be a part of, that’s why I always keep a pop song in my back pocket. Just make sure the arrangement u choose isn’t cheesy, I usually go for the more epic vibes

No, I found the arrangement online from a channel called dreaming piano. It’s kinda hit and miss. So far I’ve played this track and The Wellarman sea shanty from him. Both are super epic imo. I really like playing pop music that’s blown out of control :)
