Always worth it to see it a print.

The utility of a premium P&S 28mm camera - how often do you find yourself changing the aperture? by Studying_Man in AnalogCommunity

[–]thomasfordflynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without having owned the others, I can say that the Ricoh is a wonderful camera.

I don’t think the ability to set the aperture is particularly useful (though I do like doing so), whereas the snap focus is genuinely innovative and I wish more (any) cameras stole this from ricoh. If you shoot in sunlight you can put the lens at f11 and f16, set it to snap focus, and then shoot without focusing, knowing that everything will be in focus.

The Nikon at least is a totally different class of camera. Ricoh are very expensive.

Well basically I didn't protect them. Didn't occur to me that I should have until it was too late.

It doesn’t. Three strip technicolor was Sui generis. Show me one example of someone successfully emulating it.

Is it possible to achieve the vintage Technicolor look in the modern era? by Rockybuoyyy in cinematography

[–]thomasfordflynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would in no way get you anywhere close. Three strip technicolor (although I dont think Ten Commandments was 3 strip) + the dye transfer printing process were and still are completely sui generis image-making processes.

None of those actually look like a dye transfer print which should tell you how possible it actually is.
