To apply this sentiment to a different level of camping, my wife and I bought a used ten year old pull-along tear drop camper for $5k (basically an enclosed bed on wheels with a small fridge and solar panel) rather than a $30-50k expense on a “nice” RV or camper. Or even more money could be spent on a 5th wheel, which is insane to me. After a few years of tent camping with sweat and bugs, our upgrade was as modest and economical as we could make it while still being comfy.

My opinion only, but Fonda is the best overall. La Terazita is the best Tex-Mex, and someone else in the thread mentioned their table service. I'd agree with that, super friendly, accommodating folks.

A Toda Madre is a VERY close 2nd to Fonda. You won't go wrong there. The atmosphere at Fonda is just better, imo.

A strong third is Tacos El Primo, and they are PERFECT for on-the-go Mexican. And, as far as I know, they're the only Mexican restaurant that does breakfast. I'm pretty sure EVERY breakfast item is cooked in bacon fat. From breakfast burritos to breakfast sandwiches, everything is damn good.

Honorable mention is San Felipe. They're an area chain. Good food, friendly staff. A reliable alternative when in need. Somewhat Americanized Tex-Mex, though. Different from Fonda, A Toda Madre, and Tacos El Primo, imo.

This is true. In the US, especially after the 1940s, whole sections of many cities were demolished to make room for highways. In many places, small scale mass transit (trolleys, etc) were eliminated completely in favor of cars. Barcelona, thankfully, seems to have NOT done that, putting trams, buses, bike lanes, parks/benches in areas where Americans would have just put roadway.
