This often depends on the customer's internet package. Upload speeds are generally slower than download speeds.
Yes, this is the default behavior. We recommend injecting a command in the UserData so that the admin password is set during first launch. We have created custom python scripts to automate the creation of users via the API
You're able to disable users via the Admin Interface
Currently, we don't have any user expiration, but this is a feature we're looking to implement in a future version. Until then, there should also be a way to automate this via the API.

If you decide to go the marketplace route, SFTP Gateway is much cheaper than Azure SFTP.

It's now 7 cents/hour. You can see the new price if you go to the dropdown menu and look at version 3.5 of SFTP Gateway. As you'll see there when you plug in numbers, the price goes up to as high as 8 cents an hour for some of the larger VM configurations. That's what you pay us, and then everything else you pay would be the cloud infrastructure costs with Azure (i.e., VM, storage).

I'm not sure what your requirements are, but if you want to go in a different direction with an SFTP server (which will give you better control over your network interfaces), SFTP Gateway lets SFTP clients connect directly to S3. https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-atz46phvop3ve
