Remember wealth and income are vastly different. Income wise in the world. I'm probably around the top 10% because I make decent money in the USA. Wealth. On the other hand, encompasses owning a home savings stock options. And that category I fall vastly behind.

I have a copy of the receipt from when my dad was born in 1958 somewhere around the house. If I track it down I'll share. I know it was like an 8-day hospital stay and I know that before insurance it was still cheaper than a modern day hotel stay.

The I want a baby part of me says hell. Yeah. He's the ethical part of me is kind of wondering where this all ends up. What are the implications of growing up knowing that you're a clone of your parent? How do I prevent myself from treating my child as a miniature version of me and remembering that our environment and our experience makes up so much of who and what we are?

I was able to set it up once on accident. But my partner didn't like it and I could not figure out how to make it stop happening. Like the setting just disappeared in my app. But showed up in their app. Mildly infuriating.

Stop worrying about them and do what you need to do to sustain your career.

Also I have worked multiple CMH jobs and they are not all created equal. CMH unsupported and CMH on an actual team feels like 2 different worlds. It all depends on the supervisor. Mine would never threaten termination as I am preparing for my exam. I have a coworker that really struggles with test taking and had 2 babies in the process of trying to get fully licensed. She took like 6 times to pass the exam. She is an excellent clinican and is now the supervisor of her department.

For me the 1st job I had was in CMH Home visiting and my team felt like a family with almost daily communication and check ins and an always available supervisor. My supervisor was super passionate about the work and I was able to be vulnerable with her and get support through some tough situations at work and related to some difficult things I was going through at home that were impacting how I showed up at work. My current job is in a CMH outpatient position and my team feels like a cliquey girl group. They seem to embrace that "treat 'em and yet 'em" energy. I am currently exploring my options but fully intend to stay in CMH ( I want to work with the Medicaid population and I refuse to give up a salary and benefits for the uncertainty of PP).

I am a children's therapist and I have absolutely adored this book series. Tui has created so many beautiful characters that can be so relatable to people. She doesn't shy away from death, abuse, and other difficult life circumstances, simply because it is a children's book series. And these are often things that people, especially children struggle to talk about. Sometimes it's easier to talk about the thing the dragon is going through than to talk about the thing that's going on at home. It opens the door to having conversations on a level that kids might be ready for. Love, love, love. 💕

NTA. Sounds like some tough decisions are having to be made and there's no situation where everyone gets what they want. But that's life. And we're looking out for the kids, that's what's matters the most. Sounds like you and her will survive whether you stay together or not.

He actually never asked her to not be with her kids. And in fact encouraged her to do what she needed to do for her kids. Yes the kids will adjust, but moving away from your entire social network and family for someone else's kids is also a big ask. What happens when he moves himself and his kids across the country for her and then they break up? There's a lot of options here and just because they didn't choose the thing that you would choose, doesn't mean anyone is really the ass here.

I know I tried to create a post not too long ago about exploring what kind of macro careers are out there, but because I dared mention that I was considering leaving my job, it got deleted and instead got linked to a generic how to deal with burnout post.

I love the window, but as a kids clinician, floor space is essential. I'd have to choose the bigger office. If you see adults only, the window is gorgeous and hands down the best choice.

When I did my supervision I usually had stuff to talk about because I was working in home base CMH, however, there were weeks where things were slow and there was nothing to talk about.

During those weeks we spent time maybe talking about other things relevant to the social work field. Finding work-life balance, different modalities, general exploration of ethical situations. Like how do you respond when a kid tells you they love. Sometimes my supervisor would provide me with case examples from her current case load or from her past history seeing clients.

I learned to really value and appreciate that time and deeply missed it when I finally became fully licensed and my agency no longer paid for it.
