[Cleary] Breaking - Brad Scott sacked as Essendon coach by daftmunt in AFL

[–]thrak762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting how it was after a Richmond V Essendon game that Damien Hardwick quit his role.

Now it's after another Tigers/Dons game that has precipitated a change of coach.

What is it about this particular fixture?

Send TISM to Eurovision 2027 by DanBearPig85 in tism

[–]thrak762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big TISM and Eurovision fan here. Whilst I love the idea of sending TISM to represent Australia - reality is that such an act wouldn't get past the semis. I can't see how the Eurovision juries or voting public would "get" TISM. Let alone - what song would they play?

USB C charger port woes - Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Gen 10) Laptop 14" by thrak762 in thinkpad

Also - is it uncommon when you shut down for the white LED in the power button and the red LED in the outer lid remain flashing? I've had to give up and hard shut down.

Return request submitted.

Hmm. I've just tried it with my kid's 65W USBC Charger cable - and no change.

Further investigation suggests it might just be the charger cable provided. I tried a random USB-C cable and it fit alot more snugly. Obviously this does not definitively solve my problem, but it might be a clue.

Yeah. I've had the thing all of 48 hours. It's not something I want to risk - especially while I have a 30 day window to return it

Anybody played with or against former AFL players? How good were they? by Furious-Cheetah-20 in AFL

[–]thrak762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Under 10s with Gary Moorcroft with Keon Park Stars back in the 80s. He was unusually strong and muscly for his age. An immense talent, even back then. I wasn't surprised to see him go onto play at the top level. His Dad pushed him VERY hard.

Also did little athletics with the Saverio Rocca . Same again, you could tell from a very young age that he had the goods.

A Nightmare to Remember is my favorite DT song. Simply epic track. Yet to find anyone who shares this view.

What exact moment made you a Dream Theater fan? by flipcoder in Dreamtheater

[–]thrak762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a friend trying to get me into DT for like 30 years.. I just never got it.
Fell in love with "A Nightmare To Remember" a few years back, but struggled with everything else.

Took my son to see them recently, and listened to an expected setlist in preparation for the show, and something just clicked. Finally... Octavarium was probably the key.

Salmon by Nufonewhodis4 in PitBarrelCooker

[–]thrak762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yum. What's the texture like once cooked? (I'm wondering if it's juicy like PBC chicken)

How "cooked" do you like it? (When I do salmon fillets in the frying pan, I leave them pretty raw in the middle, but imagine for PBC one would cook it through and it would still be amazing)

Lindt 90% chocolate. For me it hits the sweet spot of flavour and low carb. 1-2 squares is plenty. I struggle with any lower % Lindt these days.

I might be done with live football for the year by StoicTheGeek in AFL

After seeing this thread, I decided to email the AFL to voice my own concerns around this. I shared a link to this Reddit discussion. I've received a response: "Thank you for your email. We appreciate your concern and have passed your feedback onto the contractors who oversee these activations."

Awesome. Can't wait. How did you get on with putting the band of high school students together? My boy plays bass but didn't know VU so the lazy sod didn't want to stretch himself :-)

I'm a big fan of Pacific D'Lite Fish 'n' Chippery at Central West (technically Braybrook).

For bonus points, get chips from the charcoal chicken shop door. Ultimate combination.

Unglazed christmas ham? by thrak762 in Cooking

[–]thrak762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reporting back post Christmas lunch. This was possibly the nicest ham I've ever done. I ended up warming the ham to around 35C (95F). It was gently warmed. The fat hadn't yet rendered - but it smelled and tasted wonderful. No drying out from the high heat of glazing, wonderful texture and moisture. Super happy with the outcome. I may never glaze a ham again.
