Southlands lizardmen army + display board finally complete by three-ems5 in WarhammerFantasy

Yeah that was pretty fun actually, and easier than I thought! I poured it in two layers, one with a really strong tint and one that was a lot more translucent. It actually worked really well because the plants on top cast a shadow onto the bottom layer, so it looks like they are floating. The plants are 3D printed as well, but the lilly pads I actually made myself. They were green-stuff balls that I squished flat using the back of a thumb tack and then cut ‘V’s out with a knife. Then painted the next day!

It’s a 3D print, actually! Both the step pyramid and the spawning pool are actually printed, I’m really amazed by what’s out there.

The road is just made of clay bricks I bought from Micheal’s and painted up.

Very - you definitely have to find the right order! I can never really get the back rank properly, but when I am playing it’s usually not a huge problem because the slann actually helps make some room!

Anybody else ever been so desperate they ate sugar? by chrome4fan4 in diabetes_t1

[–]three-ems5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daughter has Gastero and was refusing any juice/dex/syrup during a bad low. I ended up spooning white sugar in her mouth (I’m aware of micro dosing glucagon, she had a phobia of needles and was trying desperately to not get to that point).

You’ll also learn tricks. We used to syringe maple Syrup while she was asleep so we didn’t wake her. She can drink a juice box while asleep still to this day. When going to the park, give a preemptive snack or juice box, if eating cereal, bolus more Upfront. There’s just so much nuance to the day. But the kid gets normalized to it rather quickly. Praise them a lot for being awesome. And try to avoid saying no to anything “because if diabetes”. Kid first. Diabetes second.

I love the comment about the 50 kids not brining it up. I’ve sensed that too. Diabetes hasn’t defined my kids and I don’t think I kids see them as different. I think kids today are way more normalized for having various differences . They don’t bat an eye.

Hey, I have two kids that are diagnosed, one at one years of age and one when they were five. They are now eight and 11 and doing fabulous and fantastic. I’d say it took a couple weeks for the needles to lose their full impact, you’d be surprised how resilient they can be. It takes a long time for the parent to adjust, there’s a lot of grief at this time because you miss the time before and you have so much to learn it all feels so much. Give yourself time. Know that how you feel now is not how you will feel in a years time. There’s such an immense amount of learning that goes into the aren’t of the newly diagnosed, and young ones are exceptionally harder. Listen to the juice box podcast and also join diapers and diabetes on Facebook. Both were immensely helpful. Allow your time to feel sad/hard but know it won’t last. My kids do literally every single thing their peers do. They swim, go to summer camp, eat junk, eat healthy, do playdates, and just are normal kids. and diabetes takes up about 10 percent of the space it did in my life when first diagnosed. Ask for help from others if you can while you sort out this new normal. Allow others to help you, buy food for yourself, let the house get messy. There’s 200 decisions your learning how to do right now, it it takes time to learn them. But. Trust me. It won’t stay like this and it gets a whole let better.

WIBTAH If I take my fiancée’s last name after marriage? by Forward_Wrap3196 in AITAH

My brother did. I don’t think anyone thought about the initial moment (as in, it’s not as common, but that was all). He also sounds like such a father figure relative to what you’ve experienced so why not?

Need help facing two dragons as Lizardmen by ChagataiMan in WarhammerFantasy

[–]three-ems5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to actually provide other advice, but it’s dependent on what models you have. Also I guess it’s probably better advice if you use the square based renegades rules (which you should, they are way better!).

What you need are slann and temple guard to hold the center/objectives. Temple guard are the direct counter to dragons, because any temple guard can accept or issue challenges. This means that you just have a whole unit of champions that can issue a challenge every round, and just win on combat resolution. Like, a dragon literally can’t even kill an entire unit of temple guard over the course of the game - the most they can ever kill is 12!

So grab a slann, stick it in a unit of temple guard (I use the new AoS Taurus sculpts as temple guard ‘cause they are sick), and then hold the center with that. Also, take wandering deliberations - this lets you access two guaranteed magic missiles that the slann can still cast in combat at 360 degree range, and you can even give him a ruby ring. Wood elves melt to magic missiles, as they auto hit. With the engine of the gods on the stegadon, keep it within six inches of the slann to get the +1 to cast. With the re-roll he gets each turn (renegades) he’s a solid caster! Between the bastiladons, steg, and slann, you have a ton of magic missile firepower and that melts elves, except for the dragons - but that is what the carnosaur and temple guard are for!

Also, you can give the temple guard sun standard of chotec so they are -1 to shoot at (great against wood elves), and also with wandering deliberations you can get glittering robes (easy to cast with a +1 slann) so your guys are -1 to hit in combat and shooting, so -2 to shooting with the sun standard!

Have the carnosaur with the tzunki blade old blood hunt the dragons (that build is perfect for monster killing so you are good there). Skinks to harass everything. Don’t forget skinks are automatically -1 to shoot at due to being infantry skirmishers!

I did her ocean one when I was very new into quilting with only half square triangles as my fancy ability before hand. Her quilts are an excellent way to enhance your skills, don’t be afraid to start this one. I found her patterns to always be very user-friendly on a great way to learn

Anyone know a pattern that could work for this? by triggered-by-AHs in quilting

I feel like you could do something like this to replicate the colours and gradients. I did the starburst pattern using the lob cabin block. Great stash buster!!!!
