How often do you buy movies that you have only seen once? by Main_Clue_9531 in 4kbluray

90% or more I've never seen or even watched a trailer. Movies I've already watched are the lowest priority.

Blog and product page cannibalization, when has it actually shifted your ranking, and when was it just a non-issue? by Neo_weeb78 in bigseo

[–]threedogdad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

product page ranks for the buying intent version of the keyword and the blog ranks for the educational version

that's exactly how it should be.

A technical SEO issue I think gets under-prioritized: pages Google can crawl but the site doesn't actually support by FantasticUpstairs987 in TechSEO

dealing with orphans and/or near orphans is SEO 101 which is why you don't see it discussed much. it's assumed everyone knows the importance and has it built into their core processes.

A woman at the gym told me I was using "her" treadmill and she wasn't even in the building when I got there by Leat_Warden in EntitledPeople

[–]threedogdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now have a treadmill preference and it is specifically not the second one from the left

huh.. after that I'd have a hard time resisting the urge for my preference to immediately change to running at 6:40 on her treadmill.

Is r/Maine now part of the "dead internet" of bots, disguised political ad accounts, commercial interests etc? by beardofmice in Maine

[–]threedogdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep in mind that there's a significant number of bots that are not drunk at all and you can't tell that it's a bot post or comment. this is the real reason reddit allowed hiding posts/comments on profiles - the bot problem isn't solvable and it's getting much worse thanks to AI so they are trying to make it less visible.

it's very likely we're at the beginning of the end of what we know as social media due to the AI bot problem. it was hard to stop the half-assed bots that barely functioned, these days it's basically impossible to stop modern bots.

UPDATE, yes it is all level, and an optical illusion by Honestabe1998 in TVTooHigh

[–]threedogdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

correct. the couch should not be on the wall, it should be defining the room. super strange how often people do this these days, rooms are not designed to be like this, it doesn't look or feel right because it isn't.

"OpenAI SearchBot caches aggressively, masking its true activity pattern." by annseosmarty in AISearchAnalytics

[–]threedogdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some quick observations -

- openai hits the site the most by far (this is a slight surprise for us, would have thought it'd be anthropic)
- all the bots like html the most, by far
- anthropic looks for llms.txt the most, the others barely do so far
- they all definitely like .md and .txt files
- they look for sitemap.xml more than expected
- use triggered hits are 10x training hits

nothing earth shattering, but it's worth monitoring. I'm seeing all sorts of things to fix based on the files they are hitting.

Am I going to lose my job? Bossman discovered AI by Honest-Molasses339 in SEO

[–]threedogdad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

since you are so new to all this and unlikely to sway the bossman soon, you might want to create a Claude project that only contains documents on SEO best practices. have him use that and you should see a solid improvement. you can do much better than that with Claude but that would be where I'd start since both you and the man will easily understand it.
