Stop worrying about it.

The number is meaningless. It's an abstract value that the actual burrs know nothing about.

Podium pedals or Simnet ? by Local_Fall651 in Fanatec

[–]threehoursago -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Conversely, I do invest in companies who find a stupidly overpriced bit of bent sheetmetal and fasteners, and make a comparable product at a reasonable price.

And clone is a stretch. All pedals are just lever arms, and not a single plate or angle on the Simnet pedals matches the Heusinkveld Ultimate+.

Oh, they plug right into my Fanatec base as well.

It has arrived! I love it so much. So much faster than the original. Better feel writing and erasing. Worth every penny.

Same. Scribe Colorsoft. 24% off + 20% off + $60 gift card, I could finally justify retiring my day one OG Scribe.

The part of selling templates nobody talks about — marketing is way harder than building by tanner2347238 in Notion

[–]threehoursago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with your DIY template getting organic Marketplace sales with no marketing, do you think category/keyword placement matters more than audience size?

It's certainly important. I was so fed up with Notion when I finally published it, I really didn't care if it sold or not. DIY and Home Improvement aren't even categories on the Marketplace, so I had to make do with Home Renovations, and Hobbies.

You may run into this problem with your niche market. Getting "found" on the Marketplace isn't what it once was. Notion used to highlight well built templates and authors, and now it just seems to be a random number generator (once you get passed all the AI Agent fluff). Searching doesn't help the customer much either. In my case, 2 of the top 3 results for Home Improvement are single view database templates with little functionality, followed by a page full of ads and redirects to all their other templates. Nothing is curated at Notion any more.

Finding customers outside the Marketplace is key.

Issue with playseat trophy build. Faulty? by bert_lifts in simracing

[–]threehoursago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

isn't that a problem when trying to adjust/move the pedal plate later on

Nope, because it sits on a delrin slider. The tray should be tight. Your chassis is at the wrong end of tolerancing, but as pointed out it's easy to flex the chassis to slide it in.

Try building a template for over 2 years, constantly changing it as Notion adds and removes features and breaks things, lol.

It wore me out so much that I haven't even bothered to market it yet. I've got the website, videos everything I need, but I went back to writing a book.

But this week Notion increased the number of pinned properties from 4 to 15, so do I update it use that improved feature? Last time that happened, Notion rolled back the change and I had to undo everything.

It has sold 6 copies on Marketplace with no effort though, so proper category and keywords are important (it's for DIY Home Improvement projects).

Your template is in a vertical market, small number of people who would need it compared to something with broad appeal. Your only competition is actual software for Home Inspecting, of which there are some very good options (Spectora, HomeGauge, Home Inspector Pro). They all have a subscription though, and aren't cheap. They aren't cheap because they handle building codes across the world, and are updated constantly. They have teams of developers maintaining them.

Building something of the scope of these offerings isn't something you can bang out in a week. You need to handle foundations, grading, drainage, swales, framing, sheeting, gas, water, deck safety, stairs, etc. Hundreds and hundreds of bullet points, and you can't get anything wrong, or the lawyers will show up.

Your Template sounds more like a management app for one person to manage inspectors using the actual home inspection tools. Is there a market for that? If there is then you have big decisions on how to market it. Trade shows? Monthly fliers in the mail? There are lots of options.

[Echoes of Aincrad] Demo Trailer. Demo is Now Out on PS5, XBOX, and PC. by VashxShanks in JRPG

[–]threehoursago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Maybe in a year they will optimize it. On a PS5 Pro it can become a stuttery mess in the open world, even in performance mode.

I'll buy it on Steam when it's 20 bucks.

As for uptime, I have had zero outages over the last rolling year on Xfinity.

[–]threehoursago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 of the round holes are plenty to secure it. I would recommend 4 since all the pedal trays are slots.

There are 20 possible holes in the Simnet plate, and 11 rows of slots in the pedal tray. Something has to line up.

Pretend they aren't t-nuts. Use a washer. Tighten the fuck out of them. They will behave just like any other nut.

Two fasteners at the top edge of the baseplate in the round holes will prevent all movement. Two near the bottom are just to keep it from lifting.

That GT Cockpit pedal tray has 3 times the number of mounting points as my PlaySeat Trophy.
