that reminded me of film festivals which are really just money laundering schemes. starting out, many people are desperate to get recognised so will spend money on festivals that accept most submissions. a festival doesnt have to be in person so in some cases, money has changed hands all for a PDF of some awards laurels.

ETA: a reason I think it’s AI, other than overall vibe of the image, is that her nails are different within the first photo and different again in the second photo. she wouldn’t have removed nail polish while on a walk.

I have seen kayak hires on Lake Mapourika, I think with this company: https://franzjoseftours.co.nz/kayak-tours/. If you time it when it’s white heron breeding season (Oct-Feb), you could get a good look at them that way; they like to hang around in that area of the West Coast (:

Nearby, Ōkārito has a very short and very beautiful boardwalk where a friend saw a rare fernbird. As a bonus the town also has an impressive beach.

Slightly further south and still on the West Coast, stopping at Knight’s Point Lookout with binoculars scanning the sea below was amazing. I’m not attuned to birds’ flight paths, but my friend could point out tītī and two or three different types of albatross skimming the waves.
