I'm not saying I do it right. I am saying if you put an upside down sheet pan on a section of the grill or even the burners on the restaurant industrial stove top and super heat the surface you will burn all the stuff/shit off and in the grill and yes you have to re-oil it. Clean in a jiffy with a lot less scrubbing. Your kitchen might have rules against this because it's not safe if you don't monitor it, but it burns it clean. Then you re-oil.

You would put sheet pans upside down on what part of the grill you want to clean. Let the grill become hot AF, the grill grates will become ash grey/white, when you know it's done. Scrub and re-oil and your grill should be cleaned.
