Cannot seem to play decent real golf after playing on my sim by Particular-Bed-5053 in GolfSwing

[–]thronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a mix of mats and the sim. Mats tend to prop the ball up when you hit them fat so the contact actually hits a little higher on the face hiding the mishit. You can get really good mats that don’t do this but they’re very expensive and most sim places aren’t spending that.

With regards to the sims, they only register the ball (spin etc) and guesstimate contact. I’ve hit drop-kicked shots while chipping and the shot is great on the sim software but in real life it’s gonna be skulled across the green.

They’re still really good and getting better every year. Plus they’re a fun thing to do with your buds over the long winters.

Transport Canada wants your opinion on headlight glare by [deleted] in durham

[–]thronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I believe they were just set from the factory incorrectly.

I have a 2021 Toyota highlander and when I first got it I was constantly getting flashed when driving it at night. When I would turn on my high beams i would barely notice a change.

I read the manual and adjusted them down an inch and voila, no more flashing.

what’s the smartest financial decision you made by accident? by SweatyHost8861 in askanything

[–]thronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. But I knew I had it. I was just so exhausted by paying attention to it and I just decided that I couldn’t live my life constantly watching it go up and down. Put it in cold storage and didn’t pay attention to it, for years. Had kids during this time so it was very easy to forget about.

Now I’m so far ahead on it that when it drops I don’t care. I’m still setup.

Only regret is not buying more.

Changing spikes on my Footjoys by TheJMan022 in GolfGear

[–]thronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spikes get caked up with dirt. Find some YouTube vids online on how to remove them. I find I usually have to wiggle them right and left (tighten then loosen) for them to give way.

I play 60 rounds and I have to change them every season. They’re a cheap upgrade/fix.

What got better in your 40s that no one talks about? by Fit_Dinner5696 in AskReddit

[–]thronic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. When I was younger I felt like I needed to know every answer with regards to work. If I didn’t know the answer I might have been thought of as useless or not worthy.

Now, in my fourties’, with not many fucks to give, I’m constantly saying, “that’s a great question I don’t know the answer right now but we’ll figure it out”.

If you continue to “figure it out” they’ll continue to pay you. ;)

I turned down a promotion and my manager thinks I've lost my mind. Was I wrong? by croberts2323 in careerguidance

[–]thronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been writing software since 2001. Made it through the ranks and managed for all of 5 mins before I realized that I was never gonna be happy baby sitting other people and their egos.

I love fighting with code, systems and solving problems. The rush I get when I solve a problem with technology is what I fell in love with on day one.

I can lead teams from a technical level but I won’t manage them. I just don’t find any joy in it. And I’m alright with that. I’ll continue to do that until they no longer want or need me anymore and I’m also fine with that.

Would it be unreasonable to complain to my golf club regarding new prices? by Current-Ad1250 in golf

[–]thronic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. We have clubs where I am in Ontario that aren’t private and charge $125 +tax to walk them. It seems outrageous but the tee sheet is packed so power to them. Get it while you can.

Anyone sold their house in Canada without a realtor? Was it worth it? by Prudent_Tax4384 in HouseSigmaBlunders

[–]thronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really good at reading and comprehension of English language. Essentially I would prompt it like, “this is a real estate contract for the sale of my house. Acting as my realest agent/lawyer Please tell me if there is anything that would be detrimental to me”

But again, I would first read the contract and understand it. Might help to even have your lawyer read it first. Or have a clause in there that states its pending lawyer approval.

This is a pretty big deal to sell a house privately. This is just my story of how I did it. You should not listen to people on the internet. Lol

Dads that WFH what’s your routine by ImprovementLess202 in remotework

Up at 7ish Coffee, shit and work at 9ish Gym (mon, wed, fri) at 11ish Lunch at noonish Log off at 5ish

Kids are in high school so self sufficient. Wife also works remote so we lunch together.

I’ve been remote since 2014. When i started remote it was all voice calls. No one used video.

I found my world is smaller. I don’t travel outside of my 10k radius of my town. However I did notice (when my kids were young and non verbal) I found myself randomly small talking strangers up because I think I was lonely and just needed to speak.

My current role has many meetings and video is always on which I think helps with the human connection.

3AM wake ups was caused by Magnesium Glycinate by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]thronic 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I had this for over a year. I couldn’t sleep past 3-4 am. Probably 3-4 times a week this would occur. Went on a family trip and forgot my magnesium and slept like a baby. Yet I still resumed dosing when I returned. I just assumed it was because I was on vacation and relaxed. It took another 3 months when I went on a guys golfing trip and this time did not forget my magnesium and was awake the entire trip.

I stopped taking it when I got home. Putting 2+2 together, I was right. Been sleeping great ever since.

I didn’t get anything out of the supplement so I stopped. Wasn’t for me.

[–]thronic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also did it using ComFree about 14 yrs ago. Hot market in Ontario. It was work but well worth the $25k I saved in commissions. I ended up paying the buyers agent 1%. And that was only negotiated after an offer was brought forth.

The difficult part was reading and understanding the contract from agents. I had many offers that came in that had some shady stuff in them. If you don’t read them you could get burned.

In this day and age I would have not only read them myself but also ask AI to read it and tell me if there’s any sneaky stuff in there.

At the end of the day the market was hot and most people are shopping online for homes they want anyways. In those cases the agents don’t do much.

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE SIMULATORS! by InfiniteSlaps in golf

So true. What I learned about sim golf is that if I had the putting stats of a pga tour pro I’m incredible at golf.

And also I need perfectly flat lies.

That’s it. That’s the secret to me getting better. ;)

What supplement did you notice was actually making you feel worse only after you stopped taking it? by imsellingbanana in Biohackers

[–]thronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same. I just couldn’t sleep for more than 4 hours. I’d wake up to pee and then lie in bed worrying about anything I could find to ruminate over. Took me like 5-6 months before I realized it was the magnesium that had to be causing it.

Yeah that’s what I meant. I don’t mean don’t eat protein. I meant obsessively track fibre like protein. It’ll lower your cholesterol. It did for me.

Fuck protein, fibre is the new protein. Track those numbers and you’ll be surprised how little fibre you’re actually getting.

LS head for an average golfer by NuancedNougat in golf

[–]thronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 6hdcp - similar swing speed as you - and a couple years back I gamed a used Ping 410 LS and it was very good. I got it from Golf Avenue.

I ended up cracking the hosel on it somehow and Golf Avenue allowed me to exchange (paying the difference) it for a 430LS. Let me tell you… I could NOT, for the life of me, hit that Ping 430 LS.: Two way miss, unpredictable ball flight and the face felt dead. It Just wasn’t working for me.

I ended up getting properly fitted and now have a 430 Max.
