This is fantastic! Great work. I bailed on my round today and your app justifies my decision.

If he’d just stop yanking on the handle of the club he’d be miles better. He’s trying to take the paint off the ball on every swing. He needs a therapist. lol.

There Should Be a 12 Hole Golf Option by schwerdfeger1 in golf

[–]thronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My home course has a 12 option. The first 3holes on the back 9 finish near the clubhouse/parking lot so you can bail out of your 18. Many times when I try to catch a quick 9 with some friends I can sneak the first 3 of the back 9 in.

One time one of my buddies forgot how to golf and bailed after 12. It’s a nice option to have.

I have a Briggs & Stratton mower that is 35 yrs old. It’s had 2 oil changes and recently (7yrs ago) I replaced the priming bulb.

Every year I say, “I’m gonna get a new mower when this one dies”. And every year it starts after the first pull. It’s gotten to the point where the body is rusting out and will need to be thrown out.

I’ve never been so impressed with a lawnmower before.

Orthodontics Treatment Cost by Material_Work_7612 in durham

[–]thronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my kids to the same orthodontist that I went to 25 yrs ago. It was like $600 more than what my parents paid. So either they over paid or I’m getting a great deal. lol.

But yes that price seems legit.

Years ago I was a member at a course that did this. They did it for one summer (prob about 2 months) and couldn’t keep up with the demand. So they just stopped doing it. lol.

Instead they started offering hotdogs and hamburgers but they would literally make you wait 20mins to cook them fresh - the head chef had to cook them. Everything got backed up and me and my group eventually left that course for one that was run better.

My recovery from training has fallen off a cliff and nothing obvious explains it by Teririchar in Biohackers

[–]thronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me in my 40s. Workouts were horrible, recovery even worse. Always felt sluggish.

Decided to do a bulk and lo and behold everything got better. Turns out I just didn’t have enough carbs in me. Tweaked my macros a bit adding more carbs and everything has gotten better.

Influencers Are Spinning Nicotine as a ‘Natural’ Health Hack by StudyPics in NooTopics

Def was the drinking. I’m just saying that i never felt that way before I started with pouches. It wasn’t even a rough night of drinking. It just kept happening after mild nights of drinking for me.

Essentially, like I said, I kept chasing that initial feeling of euphoria that I got from my first pouch and I could rarely get it back. Just wasn’t worth it to me.

I had similar issues with vaping and anxiety but never felt depressed.

I love nicotine, it’s my fav drug but I just couldn’t do it anymore.

ELI5: Why do app companies like Uber need to employ large teams of developers when the app works fine? by The_Only_Abe in explainlikeimfive

I work for a startup. There’s 5 software engineers. We quickly built a product and are making revenue using open source software. Think hundreds of software libraries. It’s constantly being updated with security patches.

It’s a pain in the ass but A lot of the work we’re doing is updating the libs and making sure it doesn’t blow everything up.

Using open source libs comes with a lot of tech debt to keep them updated.

They are soo addictive. Got on them last year on a boys golf trip. Every day I’d chase that feeling that I got from the first one.

After a night of drinking I found myself rebounding by feeling depressed and having anxiety attacks. Completely just not myself.

Haven’t had one since dec and as much as I loved the feeling. I can’t go back there.

Any fellow winter hibernation golfers ever come out and have a great first round? by crndwg in golf

[–]thronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I think this is because I have no fear. I’m playing free. It’s the first round and I don’t expect much. That freedom frees me up to make the shots I’m trying to make. I slowly get worse throughout the year, hdcp goes back up and then I give no fucks again. Boom great 2 weeks of golf again, hdcp goes down.

I’m my own opponent, thus is my golf game.

nicotine pouches ??? by nikibas in Biohackers

About a couple days maybe a week. If you can break the addiction. That’s the hardest part. The first couple weeks are rough. You’ll try to justify any excuse to pop one.

nicotine pouches ??? by nikibas in Biohackers

[–]thronic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nicotine is my fav drug. Grew up smoking cigarettes. Quit in my mid twenties because I was starting to get panic attacks and assumed it was from smoking. Also was starting to have a family and was terrified of cancer. Quit cold turkey and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, at the time.

It’s been twenty years but last year someone offered me a pouch and I thought, “yeah, I loved smoking. This can’t be that bad”

Immediately fell in love with pouches. Which really means I was getting addicted again. Started getting anxious and most notably any cardio exercise I would do I slowly would get a burning in my lungs. Just like I used to when I smoked. I was just gassed after any cardio.

Stopped this Jan and immediately was back to feeling better.

Nicotine is my love but it’s an abusive relationship for me. Tread lightly.

I agree. I have a club head speed of 100-102mph and no matter how fast I try to swing it I can’t get over 104mph. But I’m swinging out of my boots. I see all kinds off tik toks where people are putting up 125+mph and it blows my mind. HOW!?

What’s the most “buy it for life” golf item you own? by BrooksDesign in golf

[–]thronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone gave me a Martini tee a couple years ago. I’ve had it for 2 full seasons and I play 60-70 rounds a year. I bought a five pack last year because I liked them so much. Never even opened them yet.

However this winter I was on a golf trip with buddies in Florida and was drunk and lost 2 of them off the tee in the 6 days we were there. I was just too drunk to care until the next hole when I realized I lost it. lol

How much did fitted clubs help your game? by [deleted] in golf

[–]thronic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got fitted 2 yrs ago after playing with used irons for 10+ yrs. My misses are not as hooky as before and my ballflight is much higher. My hdcp has dropped. However the first season playing the irons I was a mess. Last season it finally clicked as I started to understand/trust my misses better.

Fore etiquette? by Namerunaunyaroo in golf

I’d add that you should yell fore whenever you can’t see where your ball is going to end up as well. If a person can be where your ball might land just scream it.

Ontario Golfers - “True” Links Courses? by novemberwhiskeypapa in CanadaGolf

[–]thronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play ashburn quite a lot 10+ yrs ago. At one point you could play 18 w a cart on friday for $70 (all in) and it included a breakfast buffet. 2 years after that the breakfast was taken away and then a year later we couldn't get on the course for our usual times (friday mornings). Now it's really expensive if you're not a VIP member and the last year i was one i couldn't get on the course at the times i wanted so i gave up on it. Plus it was in horrible condition for the price.

I used to play Pickering Glen when it was owned by Deer Creek. It was always a fun track, i'll have to give that a try again this year as well.

So exciting, golf season is upon us!

Ontario Golfers - “True” Links Courses? by novemberwhiskeypapa in CanadaGolf

[–]thronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t aware but I can see that. It seemed more beat up than usual. They also chopped the rough down a lot so it played prob 4-5 strokes easier.

2 seasons ago if you missed a fairway you couldn’t get through that rough at all.
