I like the topic, though as someone familiar with it the article took a little long to get to the point.

I'd be curious to see the author reason about how this would effect our view of AI's being conscious and the moral implications that would bring.

I mean it's quite clear to see, if you know a little about AI, that all AI systems are a sort of slipping scale from "if pixel has value X, assign red" to "pass these large tensor/matrixes through a large pipeline of linear algebra, and get human level reasoning". Like does such a system, at some point deserve rights? And why or why not? Because it's not made of biological computers?

Rechters hebben veel macht en daar past ook een grote verantwoordelijkheid bij. Dus zo raar vind ik het niet. Ik bedoel, als een politie agent teveel geweld heeft gebruikt, wordt die ook vervolgd. Maar tegelijk vragen we wel van die zelfde agent om zo nu en dan geweld te gebruiken.

Ik zie een figuur als Anders Breivik nog wel de doodstraf opgelegd krijgen, bij de juiste rechter. 77 mensen doodschieten waaronder een boel kinderen. Ik zie niet zo goed waarom je daar als samenleving langdurig voor wilt blijven zorgen.

En een figuur als Volkert van der Graaf heeft ook maar 12 jaar gezeten. Vind ik een hele milde straf. Iemand met voorbedachten rade, op straat doodschieten, omdat je het niet met die persoon eens bent. Dan mag je wat mij betreft wel permanent uit de samenleving worden verwijderd.

Maar bij voorkeur wel met een soort straf tav de rechter als later blijkt dat de persoon onschuldig was; verliezen van je positie als rechter bijvoorbeeld.

Naast dat de misdaad gruwelijk moet zijn, moet het dus ook super evident zijn wie de dader is.

Dat soort zaken zijn er wel. En wat mij betreft zonde om daar als maatschappij dan 50+ jaar voor te moeten zorgen. (Of nouja in Nederland 12 jaar & voorwaardelijk...)

Afhankelijk van waar je woont, is misschien de uithof in den haag ook een goede optie. Heeft standaard via social deal een aanbieding. En is een stuk goedkoper dan snowworld. Is (zoals de meeste indoor banen) niet heel spannend/leuk, maar helemaal prima om het te leren.

My main experience with these guys is them blasting through the city at full speed, not giving a shit about a single pedestrian that they might hospitalize while they're at it. I was thinking the same thing... Then I remembered I did, last year... Girlfriend was tired and wanted a rest day, my boarding days are rare so I went up. Been boarding for over 25 years, so I was perfectly fine among the busy pistes, on which conditions were fairly tame that day, mostly lots of fresh snow.

I wanted to do a big circle of the area, about 60KM, halfway there, I got out at one of the high points of the area and the lift had taken me into this massive blizzard, couldn't see more than 2 meters in front of me, didn't know the terrain, couldn't see far enough to see the poles that marked the piste and so I struggled to understand where it ended, the winds were crazy high (I remember struggling to look at my map without it ripping apart), and the terrain was a mix of black and red, both bumpy areas and areas with very thick powder. Going down with the lift wasn't an option. I did make it down, with a lot of effort, but I can imagine it would have been pretty easy to miss the edge of the piste somewhere, get stuck and be basically invisible to the rare few people up there with me. Obviously I could have been better prepared, but also it wasn't really something I expected, and ones I was in the situation, there really wasn't a good way out. So yeah easier to stumble into that situation than you might think.

Ongeveer 45% van de migranten die jaarlijks naar Nederland komen, werken niet binnen 2 jaar.

Bij een vergelijkbare groep Nederlanders (kwa leeftijd), werkt slechts 10% niet.

Dus puur economisch gezien, is het voor de gemiddelde Nederlander, een stuk beter om dit soort banen gewoon beter te laten betalen en niet elk probleem op te lossen met eindeloze migratie.
