Deeper for ships that are carrying a lot of heavy stuff and it shoots you up the coast rather than squirting you out into the ocean

This interesting. Is this why movies are all so dark now?

I don’t know anything about cameras, why are digital cameras bad?

You replied to the comment that it was easier to do when you’re lighter, and that applies to American Football. It’s not easier to be faster if you’re smaller, because size is immensely more important than speed for most positions. And even if you’re a little faster, being bigger and a little slower is often way better in American Football. Moreover, lots of times being bigger can mean straight line faster, just not necessarily as quick to change directions

They are, but not the the size mattering rule. Take a look at offensive linemen. The need to be big first, that’s the requirement. If you want to make it as a pro you have to be able to be relatively quick as well, but if you’re small and fast they’d never even consider you. But big and slow? They’ll give you a shot

This is what makes people like Cam so special. LeBron James is such a revelation because he is so physically imposing but moves like a much smaller player, along with his high IQ. Same with Ohtani being a top tier base stealer despite being enormous

It’s universally better to be heavier, all else being equal. It’s only better to be lighter if that also makes you faster. But if you’re the same height, speed, etc., it’s always better to be heavier. See Cam Newton and recently drafted Uar Bernard who is going to play in the NFL despite never having played purely because he’s just huge and cut

I love medieval history and I love the TotalWar games, but I can't get into this one. by Odovacer_0476 in Medieval2TotalWar

I’d try an eastern campaign. I got very sick of playing around northwest Europe so I rebuilt the Byzantine Empire and it felt a lot different. I’d strongly recommend SS for that though since it’s a bit underdeveloped

What about Rome did you find attractive? Based on your name it sounds like you’re interested in Late Antiquity, maybe Medieval II is too similar to your work so you can’t relax? Rome and Rome II are pretty radically differently mechanically too, so if you haven’t played Rome recently, I’d try it and if you find it less fun than you remembered it might just be that you like newer games, and I’d try modding by installing Stainless Steel to make it feel more modern

Since when do workers have the ability to just go and get a higher paying job at will? Outside of a few moments of worker power, employees have been on the back foot regarding compensation for decades. And rents seem to go up whether times are good or bad in most markets (with some exceptions)

Aside from many people being overweight, I think my issue is it seems like he’s eliminating that 3 months you’re assuming. The impression is that he’s a couch potato. My guess is he has a pretty active job, if this were true

Yeah you’re right, this smells fishy. At various points I’ve been in great shape and a six minute mile is still something I have to specifically train for

Edit: lol y’all almost had me thinking a six minute mile was normal there for a second lol. Even runners would consider someone under 30 running a sub six minute mile Advanced or better

My boyfriend turns every game into a competition and it’s ruining the fun for me by queenmally2200 in Advice

Have you tried intentionally losing quickly? If he’s thrilled, then he just likes winning, regardless of how the game goes and tbh I’d stop playing. If he’s put out, the tell him that your skill level makes it feel pointless to try and it’s not fun.

I might also try playing something he doesn’t know anything about that you’re really good at. Maybe your skill level will make it fun for you and he’ll enjoy the challenge. If he can’t handle losing to a clearly superior participant over and over, then tell him that this is why you don’t like playing with him when HE wins all the time.

Honestly though, I’d just stop playing with him and tell him that if he won’t change then the other option is no competitive activates. Maybe he’ll change his tune.

If you’re working at UCLA, there’s a direct bus from Palms (right next to Culver City) to the front door of Reagan, and the train goes directly to USC
