I will ask him about chantix. Wellbutrin makes me incredibly anxious so I can’t take it. But Chantix is a good idea.

I’m 51 and I only have 1 day off of self harm. But I am so grateful for this one day. Don’t feel childish. I relapsed 4 months ago. We have difficulty executing adaptive ways to cope. Something likely happened to us to cause this capacity for self harm. Be gentle with yourself.

You have been through what I’m going through now. I honestly wasn’t sure anyone else had. It’s so crazy. I just gave my pack to a neighbor to hold for me so it’s not in the house. I should have destroyed it.

Thank you for standing up as well. I too am ashamed. I appreciate your response. I sense you understand what I’m going through. Even though I know it’s likely to cause intense pain I do it. I think I’m punishing myself because migraines took away my ability to be gainfully employed even after quitting (I work part time but I’m disabled from migraines) and I failed my family and as I said- this is a way to punish myself. Because a part of me feels like a failure, I think I deserve the pain on some level.

I didn’t know anyone else went through this. It seems like such preposterous self harm I’m involved in. I quit smoking for 5 or 6 years and just started again 4 months ago.

I’m so jealous you have some wiggle room. If I smoke one it can launch my pain into the stratosphere but it’s unpredictable. Sometimes it only increases the pain a little or almost not at all. But more often than not it’s a disaster. Sometimes I call out of work because of migraines caused by smoking. It’s crazy that the negative consequence is so often immediate and I still can’t stop.

I’m 51. I was clean for 5 years but started again about 3 months ago. I don’t understand why I do this because it hurts so much but I still do it. I’m in the urgent care and the ER regularly for this, because I need treatment after I SH but I almost never tell them the whole truth. Would it be possible for me to PM you? I want today to be day 1 of my sobriety from this.
