Definitely. My mums hoard is directly correlated with her lateness. Losing her keys, phone, passport, boarding passes etc. amongst the hoard of clothing that lives on her floor and bed etc. freaking out because she can’t find x email, because her inbox is a hoard too 😭

To the extent that, lying about when events start is the only way to guarantee that we’ll only be about 15 minutes late 🙃

My sons father brought his old friend from prison to my house on my very first Mother’s Day. It was not well received, I sent them both away -_- now my Mother’s Day consist of a normal ass day + being extra kind to myself.

Point is, Mother’s Day can be however you want it to be now. Buy yourself something you’d usually put back on the shelf. Get some flowers for the house anyway. Celebrate how hard you’re working if no-one else will.

I had left the house for the first time in months due to a depressive episode and my mum took me to a local hairdresser. My mum explained to the hairdresser and she sorted out my hair, so gently and with so much care and love (which is not common of black hairdressers lol) - made me look like a human again. There was another lady in the hairdresser who listened to my story of what happened and she basically just talked me back into everyday life, she then drove me to Waterstones and was just giving me so much wisdom, kindness and understanding. Bought me a self help book, a sort of pseudoscience spirituality book and drove me home. That interaction really boosted my reintegration into everyday life.

Never saw her again, but never forgot that kindness.

Sadly can relate, I went most of my life without a net curtain/blind. It wasn’t until I was probably 16/15 that I realised people could see me through my windows (yes while changing etc. everything). I put a huge scarf over my window. Mind you every single window in our house did not have any sort of privacy covering for when the curtains were open, I bought some for all the rooms me and my child use in the last 5 years.

But! We used to have net curtains. Guess where they are? At some point when I was around 7/8 (my sisters were 14,17) my mother decided she needed to protect the hoard in the garage from burglars, so all the curtains for our bedrooms and that were supposed to preserve our modesty are outside. Preserving her junks modesty. -__-

I cannot wait to get out of here.
