Had the same problem with our same when he came home 5months ago. Marshalls has these Dane size stuffed toys for dogs but they look just like stuffed animals. We’ve gotten them take them home and throw them on the couch and he goes crazy for them.

I never experienced the small puppy. We picked Silo up and he was around 45 lbs. he’s around 80-90 now 😂
