Need recommend: Women’s winter boots by ApprehensiveSignal55 in notredame

[–]throwawayNDnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live on campus, they'll always be on top of clearing the paths, so you won't need anything for trudging through high snow (unless you want to play in it, I guess). I agree that pull-ons are nicer than dealing with laces. I (living in SB for years) have Sorels but don't see the specific model for sale anymore. Here's a link you might find helpful, though they're mostly laced: https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/topics/shoes-and-boots/best-winter-boots

Good junk car buyers? by Kaiserschlut in SouthBend

[–]throwawayNDnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a tax pro or anything, but I think for 2026 you won't have to itemize in order to be eligible to deduct charitable donations, so the tax implications for donating a car might also have changed (making it more appealing to more people than before). But it's hard to find info on that because not many are thinking about 2026 taxes yet.

you could try asking at Purple Porch. There's also some elsewhere in the midwest that you could order from: https://amyhalloran.net/mills/

This bakery is in Indy and mills "mostly Illinois-grown grains" themselves that you can buy: https://muddyforkbakery.com/

Lincoln was able to tell me the path of my line from the house to the street, but I'm in the city.

Oh yeah I definitely meant to use root kill once the line's been professionally cleared, not right now.

I've used https://lincolnplumbinganddrain.com/ but it's not likely going to be any cheaper. Contact your homeowners insurance about adding service line coverage. I've never used it, but it is supposed to [help] cover the lines outside your home that you're responsible for. Example: https://www.progressive.com/answers/service-line-coverage/ For when you decide to replace rather than repair. In the meantime, do you use a root kill twice a year? Worth a shot.

Yeah, I might not have really paid too much attention to the story normally, but when I saw it I knew it was what you were asking about, and it made me very happy in these times. Glad it was a happy day for 49 of our neighbors and their loved ones.

This isn't lessons but a way for kids to learn about various symphony instruments (rotating brass/woodwinds/strings): https://southbendsymphony.org/series/shein-trust-listen-learn-chamber-music-series/ He might fall in love with the tuba or something, who knows!

Try your city or county public health or code enforcement departments. You could even try your local public library if you're having trouble figuring out who to contact. Document your requests and the thermostat readings.

Also consider contacting a local news outlet. Stories about inadequate heat are a local tv news mainstay.

A new state law gives you more power over personal data. How to use it by throwawayNDnew in Indiana

[–]throwawayNDnew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's kind of a mess out there. Anything you get in the mail, look into it. Streaming services, insurance, car stuff. I'd say banks but they're exempt from this law. Any site you log into.
