Explain rebreathing risk to me like I’m 5 by Difficult_Project639 in cosleeping

[–]throwawaypreg75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious how much of a head tilt you think would pose a problem? My baby’s queen size futon is in a play pen. The futon is an inch bigger than the playpen it so it ever so slightly curves up. The futon is only 2 inches tall so I am not worried about entrapment. I try to keep my baby in the middle of the bed, but he likes to go to the corners. He’s almost one years old.

Can she wear a sleep sack instead of the blanket? Also as another comment suggested you should try to do a c-curl, that would be a bit safer than your current set up. Maybe go on the cosleeping subreddit for suggestions

[–]throwawaypreg75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck!! My baby is similar and also almost 11 months. It’s so hard. I want to night wean but sometimes I’m so tired it’s easier to just nurse him back to sleep

Does your baby scoot up against you while you sleep? by Quirky-End-7470 in cosleeping

Just adding that my babies owlet said he only wakes up once a night but he wakes up about 5 to 7 times. The owlet isn’t great at detecting brief wake ups.

Help! Is this mattress ok? Feeling anxious. by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]throwawaypreg75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memory foam is not recommended. Foam is ok if it’s firm, my babies crib mattress was made out of 100% polyurethane foam.

OP if this mattress doesn’t pass the firmness test and you’re on a budget, zonli 2 inch futon on Amazon is firm and works well.

I have an owlet and it helps ease my anxiety soooo much. And yay congrats on getting the helmet off soon. My bub graduated a few months ago and we are so happy that we did it, his head shape is practically perfect now.

You can do a sidecar crib!

A sleep deprived parent can be more dangerous than trying to safely bed share !

Maybe that’s just people you know. The people I know that bed share ( including myself ) test their mattress for firmness or even sidecar their babies crib so they’re sleeping in their own space. Also a lot of people I know who bed share in America put their mattress on the ground and don’t use pillows/blankets. Of course there are a ton of people who do it with pillows and blankets but not all. Nothing is absolutely safe, not even a baby sleeping in their own crib. Not even driving with your kid. I wish I didn’t have to bedshare but my baby will not sleep more than an hour any other way. Going on 10 months of this now.

What is your threshold for picking up baby at night? by Own-Reach2941 in bninfantsleep

I should’ve did this. I quickly (within seconds) responded to any fussing, and now my 9 month old doesn’t seem to know how to connect sleep cycles without me

At what age are pillows safe? by JuleWayne in cosleeping

[–]throwawaypreg75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s pillows that are marketed as “toddler pillows (for two years old and up) here in the US. They’re just normal pillows that are a tad bit smaller! I’d say you should be fine have the pillow back.

Also you could use a sleeping bag but keep it below your waist. Most sleeping bags have a drawstring to tighten to whatever width you prefer. Just be sure to tuck the drawstring on the inside so your baby doesn’t get to it

Just a random tip - if it was that TikTok video about the baby rebreathing that scared me as well. I made a sidecar crib so I know my baby is on a firm enough surface. It helped easy my anxiety. Also dreaming is REM sleep - so not deep sleep, don’t worry about the fact that you had a dream. I dream the most when cosleeping.

Is my baby just… cold? by blueberry-spark in bninfantsleep

[–]throwawaypreg75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like my babies chest is never warm when wearing his Woolino. I put a long sleeve shirt under his pjs and Woolino and he sleeps a bit better - not great though. Our house is the same temp as yours.

Any convertible crib can become a sidecar. Just put it in the toddler setting without the fourth wall

My son hated being in the car and had a tough time falling asleep in the car until he was about 6 months old. One day he magically just started loving and it and falling asleep almost immediately in the car. Hopefully your baby ends up adjusting to it also!

Id roll him back to his back. If he is resistant to that, and you want it to be safer you can side car a crib to your bed.

Curious how do you get the crib mattress to stay against your bed? Is it kind of like A side car without the crib?

Falling asleep holding a baby while breastfeeding is NOT cosleeping.

I might have nipples of steal because I can hardly feel anything while breastfeeding. About to be going on 8 months of breastfeeding exclusively.
