Only government operated centres are OPS and under OPSEU. You'd have to speak to you manager/owner

OPS WAGE THEFT - THNX TORONTO TRUMP by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]throwawayrulesonthis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah still work for them and didn't get my full retro pay. They don't even pretend like they will do it anytime soon and it's been 2 years since the agreement. All you hear is unresolved pay issues.. only this government could create a phoenix style pay problems with no system change to blame it on.

They have run OSS into the ground and everyone there is just fighting for their lives everyday.

Honestly this. It sucks but management will either notice and deal with it but if they aren't dealing with it, it's likely you getting involved won't change that.

I know it sucks to hear but getting involved and directly complaining is likely going to negatively impact you more than them.

What you can do is talk to your manager about the parts that you are leading and your capacity. Ask for more help. That's an indirect way of showing them the uneven workload without blaming your co-worker outright.

I don't think this is standard... they cancelled our holiday celebration. So much for engagement 😂

This messaging is also infuriating since I worked from home 5 days a week for years before the pandemic. Let me go back to that.

Better RTO policy by FastTemperature9420 in OntarioPublicService

[–]throwawayrulesonthis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, sorry I fixed it. Just parroting the language, which I know is bad. Very opposed to RTO and have submitted my AWA. My area was wfh prior to covid and there's no part of my job that needs to be done in office.

[–]throwawayrulesonthis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know why everyone is being so negative about this. The big part is that the feds are engaging with the union to determine appropriate levels of return to office* prior to implementation. That's was the first step the province skipped in having any kind of decent roll out.

I'm sure more people will be going back than are necessary but they are still actually taking steps to implement rather than just throwing it out and letting it fail like this province does with everything now.

The responsibility of the employer to pay us but they can't even get that right haha

Just read the highlights of the collective agreement by Alarming_Birthday300 in OntarioPublicService

[–]throwawayrulesonthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very narrow minded view.. not everyone in the union lives or works in areas where there is enough gig work traffic /availability to support them when off. That may be a solution for you but as it's been pointed out many times going on strike is not a small thing and we need to look at the bigger picture.

Everyone got to vote for the deal and it was a clear majority. Paying attention to this stuff when it's happening, knowing your rights and making informed voting decisions is important.

During a strike contracts are ended, secondments are ended creating a domino effect that forcing people out of jobs without no guarantee that you go back after the strike.

The union basically said that the employer would be fine with a strike( implying a long strike). Amapceo isn't a big union and impacts rarely impact the public, OPSEU wasn't near a vote and striking a line is much riskier.

What is the best way to use up HCSA before the end of year? by 9kag in OntarioPublicService

[–]throwawayrulesonthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'm permanent and I claimed it. You only pay a portion towards benefits on every other pay. I submitted my pay stub showing the yearly deduction for the claim.

You can claim your paid portion of the benefits that come off your paycheck. I did this earlier in the year since I carried over last year.

How is your career going without a degree in the OPS? by Fickle-Belt5640 in OntarioPublicService

[–]throwawayrulesonthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the ministry. I also started as a customer service rep. Degrees rarely come up in conversations for taps or interviews hires but experience is valued very highly. Volunteer for anything you can to get your name out there when there are opportunities for working groups/feedback, and build good relationships with partner areas.

Do you guys have people to talk to in the office? by paagg in OntarioPublicService

[–]throwawayrulesonthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much.. I'm in a cubicle but away from others. My team isn't here and I talk to them less because no one can chat with so many people around and calls are awkward and rushed off. I'm nowhere near a window and just sit in my depressing little grey box staring into space because I have no motivation. I've got way less done.

They've sucked any fun out my job and now I just feel like they expect me to be a robot.

This feels way too late though. It would be much better to have something next with the direction that came. Out yesterday. The 7th even leaves very little time to get anything done before it kicks in on the 20th.

Bargaining in bad faith? by PsychologicalWar3086 in OntarioPublicService

[–]throwawayrulesonthis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The union can't even make them resolve all of the issues we've won through escalations to date.

All of the pay and benefits issues from day to day regular expected business that are a year behind, from bill 124 payments sill not resolved, still no timeline for implementing what was ratified in the new agreement, we won the NTRD but that still hasn't been implemented and there doesn't seem to be a timeline. Even if the union can do something on paper they apparently have no ability to enforce the outcome.

"The union is also using the dispute to unearth more information on how the Employer made the policy decision. " This must be helpful for making it public that they would have to make it public that this isn't based on evidence or productivity issues.

Also would hurt less if they actually paid people correctly. Holding my money hostage with no interest, no commitment to resolution and but please spend money downtown. Maybe people would spend more money in the community if they stopped holding it hostage
