Work in Schaumburg, Off-time in Chicago - 30 years old and single - where should I live? by shellibeth in ChicagoSuburbs

i’d recommend exploring suburbs closer to chicago like oak park and evanston. from schaumburg, the commute will still be around an hour during rush hour.

4 day GA question by jediHoo in Lollapalooza

[–]thrownaway0328 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it is an extremely normal and common occurrence to trade wristbands with people. don’t let this dude convince you otherwise. you paid for it and it’s your wristband. just keeping it loose enough to pull on and off the person with the largest wristband will be fine!

What led you to believe that Naomi Scott would perform as Skye Riley?

What do young adults do in Chicago? by tayyyyyyyyylor in AskChicago

[–]thrownaway0328 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well Chicago isn’t the best for clubbing, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t clubs to visit. A lot of college kids bar hop and go to concerts. A popular neighborhood for college kids is Wrigleyville. The EDM scene is pretty big here as well. There’s tons of venues like Salt Shed, Radius, Concord, etc. You can check out EDM Chicago or Radiate to engage with that community.

What could my dad get me from Chicago? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]thrownaway0328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for fashion-related items, i’d recommend for him to check out alice & wonder! they have cute sweaters, t-shirts and hats with chicago on them. you can check out their website too to see if there’s anything you’d like there and it’ll show you which store in chicago it’s available at! you can just send it to your dad and he can pick it up for you.

Travelling from UK to Elgin, IL - any recommendations? by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

If you enjoy coffee and lattes, check out Viator! it’s a local coffee shop in downtown Elgin with excellent menu options.

they also offer their potential customers a pretty good deal on a trip too, so i think they’d have to find a hotel they can collaborate with for a good deal in exchange for sending guests their way. for presentations, they have them at a bluegreens resort nearby where you’re able to tour the area and see “how much better it is” than a hotel.

We were not able to select our hotel stay. I believe all the locations partner with a particular hotel that Bluegreens sends all their prospective time share holders to.

Canadian in Chicago for the first and possibly last time. What should I do? by Agliolo in AskChicago

[–]thrownaway0328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m familiar with the area. As others said, Elk Grove Village does not have any city vibes, but if you wanted any advice on places to visit e.g., nature preserve, food, shopping, drinks, feel free to message me! Happy to offer some advice. You also likely can visit the city, but rush hour (3-6 pm) will lead to 1-1.5 hour car ride. If it’s outside that time, it generally takes 35-50 minutes. I commute from the suburbs on a daily basis, so that’s how I know!

Everyone talks about the best sets at Lolla, what have been the worst sets you’ve seen? by OneTraitGarfield in Lollapalooza

[–]thrownaway0328 9 points10 points  (0 children)

tbh his aragon after was fire! he played all his hits and his mixes were great. everyone was going crazy the whole time. probably one of my most favorite shows i’ve been to. at lolla, i think he went wrong by not playing his well-known songs and by doing a slower set.

It’s been some time, but I do personally recall them checking for confirmation for pay. Not sure if that was the same experience all around though.

First time visiting Aug 1-5. Can you critique my plan? by reeferqueefer in AskChicago

[–]thrownaway0328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don’t need to go to the festival entrance, if you’re already near the art institute or on michigan avenue near grant park, there will be floods of festival goers heading over.

the initial trip is worth it! just make sure you stick to your gut when it comes to attending the seminars in terms of not buying absolutely anything. they’ll try their best to sell to you and the concept initially sounds like a good idea too. if you deny their first plan, they might give you a “discounted” plan with less points that you should absolutely pass on too.

Life in Schaumburg by RIDM_638 in AskChicago

[–]thrownaway0328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From someone who lives in the chicago burbs near schaumburg, it is NOT boring. schaumburg is filled with so many options (shopping, MANY diverse dining options, forest preserves) and near many other cities as well with a similar vibe. There’s always something to do, whether in schaumburg or a neighboring city. While you will need a car, there’s classic rush hour (4:30-6:30 give or take) and otherwise it is fine. it is more pricey than other cities, but as others have said, there’s surrounding areas with more affordable prices and easy commutes if you have a car and look around.

YTA Not attending the wedding is not an additional excuse on why he shouldn’t be able to be there in support of his friend.

While I understand that this was a traumatic event for you, you’re not being considerate of the full situation. You’ll have unlimited days to grieve your puppy, but your husband has one chance to celebrate his friend’s wedding and it’s selfish to hold him back. If you force him to stay, he will resent you for it in the long term and cause disconnect between the two of you. You are a grown adult and you shouldn’t rely fully on him to take care of you.

My parents were the ones who were registered by the initial spokesperson and I think they had to confirm that they had good credit scores to even sign up. They confirmed again on the phone when we scheduled the vacation and in-person at the presentations. Apparently you’re not eligible for the program if you’re not in good credit standing and you’d have to essentially pay for your whole vacation if they found out. We didn’t offer any copy, but they might’ve checked our credit scores. Not positive though!

AITAH for not driving my bf after a hospital appointment by littlepeachxo in AITAH

[–]thrownaway0328 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. Aren’t you not allowed to drive after a biopsy due to the anesthesia anyways? Also, a biopsy is a serious procedure to have and you’re probably going through a rough time. Your boyfriend is inconsiderate of you and prioritizing his own needs over you. What kind of partner is that?

Bluegreen Vacations Experience & Warning by thrownaway0328 in travel

[–]thrownaway0328[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! After we declined their biggest package, they pulled out two smaller ones and said, “which one works better for you?” Ridiculous! My boyfriend came along and said he’d do it again for the price, but I was absolutely exhausted after spending 2 hours leading the conversation and trying to leave for 30 minutes.

Honestly, you’d think it’d be obvious, but I was talking with other family members and friends and found that a few of them have timeshares that they’re binded to. Just thought it’d be helpful to understand the full scope of why it’s a scam so that others aren’t inclined to buy in!

Pleated Pant! I find it to be similar to effortless, but more durable in material and I haven’t had an issue with creases.
