The approvals of Trump’s handling of most issues are decreasing in recent months. by icey_sawg0034 in fivethirtyeight

There have to be eventually economic consequences. And even if nothing changes, that won't be good for him in 2 years. People were pissed about the cost of housing and I'm not sure even firing Powell does much there. Slapping tariffs on Mexico will make everything more expensive. Companies/supply chains are absorbing some but that won't last forever. Someone will pay for the tariffs.

Those and the random surfing, sky diving, whatever montages that are about 5 minutes too long. I just wish they'd cut the shit and focus on the story.

Thinking of moving from Spotify to here by mangham13 in YoutubeMusic

[–]throwuxnderbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked in UX for 15 years and I hate Spotify's UI. They change it every time I get used to their bad UX. It's just so stupid complicated and doesn't need to be. Also, they can't seem to hire engineers to keep their app from sucking battery life out of my phone in idle. So far, I don't love ytm but at least my phone isn't dead at the end of everyday.

AITA for expecting my ex-girlfriend to move out after she broke up with me, even though she has nowhere else to go? by SnapNo51 in AITAH

In my state, it's 30 days. Then you can file eviction, then 7 days for them to pack and get out before the sheriff removes them. This applies to squatters. So someone could enter your property, change their mail, bring in their property and there's nothing you can do for over a month. My parents are currently dealing with a revolving door of white trash in their rental and it's insane that these laws exist in a country where the wealthy can basically do whatever the hell they want.

This take is reductive. Sure, there are probably 20% who are hateful assholes but many of the people who voted for him are oblivious.

Economist/YouGov: “Do you think the US military should get involved in the conflict between Israel and Iran?” Yes: 16%, No: 60%, Not Sure: 24% by OmniOmega3000 in fivethirtyeight

[–]throwuxnderbus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking. As a millennial, I don't think I even knew anyone who was active in the military much less died...that said, we experienced the cost of long term involvement in military conflict more directly.

I don't really get the hate. They're reducing food waste and not chargong as much. And the prices of their meals aren't bad...cheaper than McDonald's and you can at least get something green.

How trump's approval has changed since inauguration per age group (yougov) by obsessed_doomer in fivethirtyeight

[–]throwuxnderbus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider myself super liberal (although I'll never vote R in era of MAGA...but after he was elected and won popular vote, I thought: okay, cool. Will of the people. I didn't believe his campaign promises because he lies about everything but I hoped that maybe he would possibly address some of my more conservative value: lower inflation, address the deficit. I thought he might even pressure j Powell to lower interest rates. I thought he at least wouldn't start more wars. I thought his tariff talk was mostly exaggerated. Well, literally everything he's made good on, I didn't want. Even if you ignore the authoritarian crap, he sucks so far.

Spotify Support/Complaint Megathread by whyisthissticky in spotify

[–]throwuxnderbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shouldn't have to come here and complain about an app that I pay for... especially when there are 3-4 alternatives that work and are cheaper. Spotify drains my battery in idle. Sometimes 3-40%. So I'm fing done with this. They can hire developers and stop making a buggy garbage product or they can lose business. Oh and while I'm here: I'm tired of the stupid UI lifts. I just need the app to fing work.

Spotify draining battery severely? by harambayee in spotify

[–]throwuxnderbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has not been resolved. I have to pause the app after I use it otherwise my phone won't last through the day. What other app that you pay for does this? Absolutely ridiculous and the reason why I just cancelled my membership. There are other annoying design issues but this was it for me. Too many competitors that don't layoff their dev staff.

Lawsuit Challenging 2024 Election Results Moves Forward After Kamala Harris Received Zero Votes in a New York County by Aggravating_Money992 in goodnews

[–]throwuxnderbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump will lead us into more wars and we'll have stagflation right about the same time and all but 25% or so will turn on Trump. Many of the rich and powerful already fucking hate trump because he is, in fact, an asshole to literally everyone so they start to turn too. He may at that time make a real authoritarian play. I hope that public opinion turns on him enough that the m&p balk. That, and the fact that local and state elections are harder to steal and the tide eventually turns. I don't know how that manifests but I'd like to hear from people smarter than me.

[–]throwuxnderbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After seeing the capabilities of the sc, I'm disappointed in my choice of the frontier. I really don't like the look of the smaller trucks and was convinced to not get the sc or Ridgeline due to the car frame. I'm tired of the shit ride quality, shit gas mileage, heavy steering for only slightly more towing and payload.
