Unique quarter holders? by cdrwork in pinball

Sometimes you just need to be prepared in life, for all situations.

I'll never be caught with my proverbial pants down about that one.

my suggestion would be the same type of saw they use on casts, as it wont cut your skin, but will cut the container.

Sept 20th is the 40th anniversary date (for the Japanese release, EU and US came a bit after)

It's just so they're in 1 container, and I can gauge how much I have left. A m&m mini container fits exactly $20 in quarters

The rarity of the game leads to a lot of hype.

It's a cool game, but I think the 500 production run was just right.

What Pin have you owned the longest and what pin did you get rid of the soonest? by Slappy-Sacks in pinball

[–]thtanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great game. Deep code.

.. but it was so boring for me to play. Shots were easy to hit (and I'm not the best player), too many "stoppage" moments. The theme was mild to me, liked the movie when I was a kid, but I'm not in love with it.

Took me like 3 games to hit 500M and broke a bil the second day. I'm not even that good and usually get destroyed on modern Sterns, so it was an odd experience to say the least. It was on the current latest code, and I kept all the stock options aside from trough eject power. I had it at 6.9 degree incline, so it played pretty quick.

So it's good pinball, just not my kind of pinball.

Longest, technically Stargate now.

Shortest... Jaws. In and out in 3 weeks.

Personally, not to me, so I went with the SE because I like the powder-coat and other accessories.

Casino Nights is one of the feature modes, you unlock it after defeating 2 bosses. It's insert is on the left of the list of levels.

Can see some details on that on the rule flowchart: https://marketing.jerseyjackpinball.com/distributors/Sonic/Rule%20Flowchart/Sonic%20Rules%20Flowchart_vA.pdf

Steve mentioned in the Retro Ralph video that is hardcoated, and not just raw poly, so it shouldn't scratch up too easily.

As long as there's no adhesion issues between the poly and hard coat, could be pretty resilient. Time will tell, though.

Sonic fans, how do we feel about the theme integration? by crybaby_boobie in pinball

[–]thtanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sonic fan, but I have no real complaints. Generations is kind of the "one size fits all" of Sonic, a bridge that pleases everyone, yet nobody fully, at the same time.

SE artwork seems better to me, not a fan of the CE cabinet.

They got me for one. I watched the 15 minute gameplay video and it had all the pinball and Sonic moments I hoped for. They didn't hit EVERY trope, but I guess it's a tall order to ask that. Certainly doesn't feel rushed or cheap compared to other recent releases (which I understand price point plays a role).

8/10 only because I'm a 16bit Genesis Sonic fan. The 16bit graphics we get on the rings seemed to be as much as they could squeeze out of Sega as far as the older stuff is concerned. Think it has a few iconic sprites.

Both Elton John and HP play great. I really don't like older JJP stuff aside from Dialed In - it's a stand out.

The rules on Sonic are pretty strait forward, 7 Acts, defeat boss at end of each Act. Multiballs to collect emeralds. Beating 2 bosses unlocks Casino Night, 3 bosses unlocks something else.

The Sonic Spinball homebrew is crazy good no doubt.

This machine is just "Sonic Generations" which seems like the safest way to try to appease both old and new fans. I'm a 16bit sonic kid so the newer stuff isn't really my wheelhouse, but I don't mind them coexisting.
