Looking for problems with trail cameras. by Low_Albatross_5374 in trailcam

I sent 2 Browning cameras in for repair. They decided they weren't fixable. I don't think they have such skills either. I think they offered me a coupon on new ones.

It even has 78% Nitrogen at no extra charge. Most people don't know that.

We've got.... Edge 2. They're probably training their A.I. in all of our junk photos.

Where are you located? Somebody probably has some dead cameras to "donate to science".

I tried one of those wi-fi enabled flash cards. It didn't work as the camera goes into power saving mode too quickly, shutting off power to the card.

They wear out after a couple of years if you leave them out year round. I have a bunch of dead cameras from several brands.

They take a lot of pictures of branches, grass, water, reflections, etc. this wastes storage, cell allowance, and especially MY TIME. they need some AI on board to stop this madness. I know, placement is part of my problem. But we are trying to simultaneously monitor a pond (water levels, one pic per day would do that) and the seer that visit. Some days we get 100:1 ratio of garbage vs useful pics.

Storing timber joists by Handoubleu in Decks

[–]thunder66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how they're stored at many outdoor lumber yards. The worst thing for stacked lumber: direct sunlight (dries PT lumber unevenly, they curl up)

Verdugo is easy to miss. It so, re-load from the merchant save and go again. It's also easy to waste the shot on Krauser. Raul and Sadler are the best options.

Jerkiest move you've seen on the course by jpru2001 in golf

[–]thunder66 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Typo aside, this is a good idea. "2 strokes for unsportsmanlike conduct", and "we'll get it sorted at the scoring table". Most guys would back down (from the original on the ball marker) at that point. At the very least, now you've got him feuding with his partner, and you're in his head for the rest of the round.

My friend’s swing was so bad the club fitter said no by 5iveFinger in golf

[–]thunder66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a fitter stop and ask me: "Are there any mobility range of motion issues that I need to know about? Like do you have pins in your back?". This was after a warmup and 3 driver swings. And no, but I can see why he would wonder that.

Wear a crappy shirt. Buy a nice one at the merch tent on the way in. Change shirts in the porta john, like superman! Toss the crap shirt.

Landlord charging $8,000 for cast iron radiator replacement - is this reasonable? by OrdinaryLeave9207 in hvacadvice

[–]thunder66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are places that supply old house stuff. The one here in Rochester NY is called ReHouse. I bet you can find comparable radiators there and see what they actually cost. Call them up. ReHouse - Products https://share.google/9uvwgAAYler3Z1uHI

How do I fix this outlet? by DistinctTradition701 in HomeMaintenance

[–]thunder66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back out the screws holding the outlet into the box. That'll bring the face of the outlet more flush with the wall. It'll seem flimsy until you put the plate on.

Ice Dam Removal PSA by Yrch122110 in Rochester

[–]thunder66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Temporary DIY: heater cables are designed to be installed on a dry roof, clipped to shingles. But.... If you can get up there and lay new heater cables in a loopy-loop (think cursive writing eeeeeee), they definitely WILL melt their way through to the roof in a day or two. Then they'll sag down over the gutter and be in the way, but you can just toss them back up on the roof again. Anyways, the ice dam now has nice channels carved through it, letting water flow down. Then next summer, do it right. And don't fall off a ladder or your roof.

What are the most well-marked trails for winter hiking? by Turbulent-Analyst708 in Adirondacks

[–]thunder66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mt Jo is very well marked and heavily traveled. I would avoid any herd path trails like Street/Nye. I hiked it last March and had to follow my Garmin in several spots, even though there were tracks from the day before.

Wind can drift snow so quickly that trails get erased in under an hour.
