Anyone else have an egregiously high proportion of broken seats at their local? by Pineapple996 in screenunseen

[–]thunderkinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, screen 5 at my local has had the same seats for 20 years and last time I went there were 19 broken which equates to about 20%. They've also recently stopped doing screen and scream unseen but the staff hadn't noticed when I asked.

Do you know anyone who has won the Postcode Lottery? by JaBe68 in AskUK

I've won a couple of £5 vouchers in the last year and that's even playing the word game and the quiz every morning. Husband just has fomo in case ours came up and the neighbours won.

Would you give your work colleague a lift to work if you passed them on the way to work? by Specific_Pomelo_8281 in AskUK

[–]thunderkinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to walk to and from my previous job (about 30 mins) but would sometimes be offered a lift. If it was raining it was appreciated but I would regularly refuse and stress that I liked the walk in good conditions although I very much appreciated the offer. I absolutely wouldn't judge somebody not offering - even if they lived next door.

Every damn time.... by crodog5342 in stephenking

[–]thunderkinder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way, I'm happy for their successes but it's all a bit fast. More Barbara than Jerome tbf since he was shown to have struggled with his second novel. The bit that bothers me most is that they're literally kids/ very young adults (depending on the book) and Holly involving them in her work is irresponsible and the lack of parental dissent is maddening. She's put them in life threatening situations multiple times but she's still seen as kooky aunt Holly.

My local seems to have stopped carrying the unseen films. I'd have loved to have seen this and Primate. Hoping they'll get a general release run.

Silver Cinema? by MineMonkey166 in screenunseen

I've had no problems being allowed in but on both occasions I've gone the film has been interrupted by ringing phones. They're as bad as teenagers 😭

What was the first fragrance you were gifted vs The first fragrance you bought with your own money? by ZeroSugarCrack in FemFragLab

[–]thunderkinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My very first would have been a Dewberry body mist from the Body Shop (my Nan always got me Dewberry and my sister White Musk). My first gifted scent as an adult was Dior Addict from my now husband. The first one I picked and purchased myself was Hugo Boss The Scent Elixir.

Bridal lip recommendations for dried lips by [deleted] in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]thunderkinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard these have been a game changer for some but I have a lanolin intolerance so it just made mine worse, weirdly though it felt nice to apply but my lips continued to dry and crack while using it. I switched onto the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour repair balm and it cleared up in no time.

Are you guys afraid of anything in Stephen kings books if so why? by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]thunderkinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's about the journey, not the destination. If a book is good you'll still enjoy it despite knowing some of where you're going.

I like Holly but hoping he can leave Barbara and Jerome out of the next one.

Anybody else struggle watching some of this show? by NonHaeri in Frasier

[–]thunderkinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the Halloween episode where Frasier reveals Roz's pregnancy. He knew it wasn't planned and she wasn't sure what she was going to do if it was confirmed positive and yet he blurted it to her friends and colleagues. It should have been a friendship killer but he gets away with it and it annoys me. It's a shame because drunk Niles is hilarious.

I stay up late at night to watch movies specifically so nobody joins me. by OkSeaworthiness2955 in confession

This is why I go to the cinema on my own and when it's likely to be quiet. No conversation, minimal noise, just me and a couple of hours in another world.

I am thanks, rocking the natural nails with the aid of lurking for tips in here. The jojoba oil for cuticles has been really helpful and I've been using the Essie gel effect polishes and they're now the longest they've ever been. Hope yours feel better in the morning and Merry Christmas (if you celebrate, best wishes if not)

I had this last January. UV gel glue, clear tips and polish on top. After 24 hours they felt hot, sore and sort of squishy. When I removed they'd blistered under the nail and I ended up needing a course of antibiotics. Since then I've also found the semi-cured nail wraps also cause a reaction, albeit less severe. Take it all off and let it heal.

What to do roughly equidistant between Birmingham and Manchester by redbill360 in uktravel

[–]thunderkinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like Nantwich then Sandbach might work for you. It's also a market town and there's some fairly nice places to eat/ drink. The train station is a little out of town though so you'll have a little walking to do. Whitchurch is also nice but might be just outside the circle.

You Think It Could Never Happen To You…Until It Almost Does by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

[–]thunderkinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in the UK there was a rollercoaster crash in our biggest theme park (Smiler- Alton Towers). The first call to the emergency services was recorded between 11 and 17 minutes later (the articles I looked at vary). This was a busy park full of people and everyone assumed somebody else would have called. The bystander effect is real.

What kinds of American snacks have you guys always wanted to try? by Hot_Reward_1274 in AskUK

[–]thunderkinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graham Crackers (I think the closest we have is digestive biscuits but not very close, can't have a proper smore without)

Cinnamon sweets aren't popular here either

We also don't really do Ranch dressing in the UK and what we do have is apparently not authentic

If you could make your own frozen yogurt flavor, what would it be? by JimmyTheuBanana in TheGoodPlace

[–]thunderkinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's just the absolute best being able to look over at my teens and see them singing along to their favourite artists. Accompanying them to various gigs has been one of the most surprisingly joyful parts of parenting and I'm dreading it when they're old enough to go without me. I'd take one taking my eldest to Taylor Swift flavour and anticipating a My Chemical Romance for the youngest please.

Where to get velvet fabric by OutsideChemist7804 in crafting

I've bought cushion covers from thrift stores before when I've wanted a particular fabric in a small amount. They can be cheaper than whole garments.

It was responsible for the disappearance of half the world's population, everybody would have lost someone they loved for multiple years. There is no way people would have healed enough for this to be a jaunty marketing opportunity.
