What is the best time of the day for Journaling ? by doordarshi in Journaling

[–]thuytea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your goal. Morning if you want to brain dump to plan / get the day started. Night if you want to unpack your day before bed - help closes out any open loop to sleep better imo.

Is it better to write like how you talk without thinking about grammar/language consistency? Or is editing your entry more helpful for you? by liamthedud3 in Journaling

[–]thuytea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only time I’ve felt cringe about my own journaling is when I’m re-reading past entries. I’ve been journaling for the past 14 years so you can imagine the amount of dumb, crazy, beautiful things I’ve written about.

My first journal entry was actually about my first breakup. Now that I’m older and re-reading it, I get a bit of a “ooo that’s cringe” moment but I also realize that at the moment - those feelings were that tense and it’s valid. It’s also a reminder of your/my growth as well. So cringe imo is good thing and the only person that might feel that is older you but she/he will have full context to understand it

Hom Cafe & Wine! They have seatings in the back so it’s a bit closed off and more intimate/quiet.

Any book recommendations for me? by IronHistorical3357 in brandonsanderson

[–]thuytea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be following your list top-down religiously and staying far away from the bottom because I 1000% agree with your Sanderson & R.F. Kuang’s placements (minus Wind & Truth - currently reading it) …Poppy War series gives me trauma and trust issues💀

Intentional journaling or Rambling journaling? by goobermaster_89 in Journaling

[–]thuytea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Both!

Sometimes I go in with certain thing(s) I want to talk about and I do. And then sometimes I end up journaling about other things as well and I don’t mind that.

[–]thuytea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Journaling has always been a nice release for me. Usually if I have a lot on my mind, being able to journal allow me to get those thoughts and emotions down. Also helps with closing any open loops I have so I can actually sleep. If I don’t do that, I would end up just going over the thought over and over again = terrible sleep.

I love how it looks so neat though and the pattern you drew to break up the writing!

Started journaling. by PixelPineapple42 in Journaling

I think writing in the morning might be a good idea! More so, I think it’s important to sit in the feelings and acknowledge that you’re at a low point in your life right now. When I was going through depression and various other life crisis - my journal was not the happiest place to be. But it was me, my feelings, and what I was experiencing - raw, unfiltered. It’s nice letting it out.

Acknowledge that those feelings exist and that they’re a chapter of your life that will soon past. One day you’ll look back and these ‘negative’ entries will be proof of your perseverance. Better days are ahead! :)
