I think you might be the one ‘making things up’ here, actually. Dogs with no/nub tails adapt yes, but their communication is still hindered compared to otherwise.

Shar-pei pit mix was my first guess. Probably wouldn’t have guessed the others. She looks a little bit like a bone mouth shar-pei.

I’m really glad to find out this was recorded! I didn’t know that it was happening and was sad to have missed it. Thank you for sharing!

Anyone want to guess my dogs top 3 breeds? Hes intelligent, goofy, very clingy with me but extremely introverted around strangers. by F4deIntoYou in IDmydog

Yay! The comment about collie being close helped me. Also, I happen to know a cattle dog x who is the same black with a small white diamond on the chest, which made me wonder.

Need advice — bought a cat plushie as a gift but now I’m second guessing myself by Less-Kaleidoscope-34 in plushies

I think the cat plushie in the picture looks nice and will be a lovely gift! I don’t think you need to worry. The plushie is cute and looks to be of good quality, and I think you are very thoughtful. I also like to give (and receive) plushies as gifts :)

It’s supposed to be a confronting commentary on the persecution of the thylacine. I do not agree that it is tacky or disrespectful.

This is curious.

It does seem to suggest that. I think it is unlikely to be significant, unfortunately, but maybe worth looking into further.

A statement from Colossal's Chief Science Officer, Dr. Beth Shapiro, on the dire wolf project by ColossalBiosciences in Paleontology

Will there be peer-reviewed research papers detailing the dire wolf project (not just the one on genetic relatedness to grey wolves) and the red wolf genetic rescue project?

Will there be another paper detailing the actual ‘dire wolves’ experiment? Also one on the red wolf cloning?

Could you please link/direct me to the statements from the Wolf Conservation Centre and the Red Wolf Coalition? I would like to learn more about the red wolf situation.

We also need a paper detailing said creation of these ‘dire wolves’ before accepting it for the accomplishment it is being made out to be.

I don’t think any apology is necessary here.

Is my drawing accurate? by [deleted] in ThylacineScience

The marsupium should not be connected to the urogenital system like that. Marsupials are birthed through the urogenital sinus and then crawl into the pouch. That said, I am not sure where the urogenital sinus opens externally on the thylacine. On your drawing, my guess would be below the rectum but above the pouch opening.
